Sirius Black was probably the proudest father there had ever been, he had quite enjoyed raising a little girl. Although Remus Lupin had enjoyed it just as much. Both were smiling down at 17-month-old Scarlet Lupin-Black who was currently fast asleep in a poorly made crib James had taken apon himself to craft. They were originally going to use a Black family heirloom but Sirius had strongly felt that was a bad choice and had gone to James with a task. James happily helped his friend only if he could be the godfather, which was granted to him without thought.

Remus sighed down at his little girl and pulled his husband into a hug from the back resting his head on Sirius's shoulder. Remus kissed his cheek and then looked back to the resting child. Wizards, thankfully, were perfectly fine with same-sex marriage. They were a lot more gracious towards it then muggles were at least and had considered love to be love, no matter who to. Believe it or not, it was a well-known fact that Merlin himself had been Pan-sexual and proud. The wizarding community was also fine with these couples adopting children of their own. So were some teenage witches who had produced some "accidental magic" in their dorm rooms at Hogwarts. No one wanted to be a Mum at the age of 15 anyway.

Sirius smiled up at his husband and set his coffee down on the table next to them. He turned around and kissed the werewolf who had pulled him closer. Ever since they had adopted their daughter, they had become closer than ever before. Which was surprising considering they had been pretty close before (if you get a what I mean). They had made great fathers, who had surprised their friends as their personalities had suggested otherwise.

Sirius had surprised them the most though. He wasn't the most agreeable person and had proven it through many rebellious acts in his youth and fights that had broken out for some of the most stupid reasons like someone had given Remus a look. His friends, such as the Marauders and Lily had found it difficult to believe that he had the ability to deal with all the nonsense of raising a child. That, and he wasn't necessarily a very great role model to look up to. Hopefully, Scarlet would turn out more like Remus than Sirius or else she would be quite the handful.

Remus had been more likely to be a better father than Sirius. He wasn't as big of a trouble maker, or at least he was better at not getting caught than the rest of the Marauders. Everyone had thought that he would be the best father. At least, everyone but Remus himself. He wasn't much of a children person and had found himself terrified of them at times. Not to mention the fact that he was a werewolf. Remus was terror-stricken that his "time of the month" would affect his ability to properly raise a child. But even that had been a small worry, now pushed aside as their daughter grew to be astonishing.

Scarlet was a clever little girl who had even outsmarted Remus and sometimes her Godmother on multiple occasions. To say the least, she was a handful. Once, she had asked for a snack and when being told no, had climbed to the top of a cabinet and opened her favorite snack with safety scissors. She had learned to walk at a young 7-months old (2 months before the average child takes the first step) and she said her first word at 5 months. The word in question was Quidditch, much to Remus's dismay. He still made the argument that it was illegible and she had said the word "Moomy" a few days earlier.

Sirius knew the truth of it though, his daughter would be the greatest Quidditch player in history and would make multiple great teams. She had already proven her talent for the sport on a toy broom that Sirius had gotten her for her first birthday. She had shown to be a great chaser as she dodged objects all over the house nearly killing Remus on numerous occasions when he had rather look down at book than his daughter and her trouble making. Sirius and James had an ongoing bet on which child would be the better Quidditch player. Sirius had already known for he had seen his daughters true talents on a broom, whereas James was yet to know of Harry's other than the fact he had just "felt it".

Stories and fun facts like these were always formed at play-dates for Harry and Scarlet or just holidays. One of these play-date thingies was planned for tomorrow for Harry's first birthday. Sirius was getting him a toy broomstick similar to the one that his daughter had but one that wasn't quite as good so that he would win the bet and that Scarlet could become the greatest quidditch player without her god-brother getting in the way of her future fame. Remus was getting Harry a book on the ABCs that he knew James wouldn't bother reading to his son but Lily would fondly enjoy. The book was written by a muggle author named Dr. Seuss. Scarlet's favorite author and easily her favorite book that Remus would read to her. In fact, Scarlet herself had gotten Harry a present. She had gotten "Baby Hawry" which was what she had called him since he was almost a year younger than her. Thankfully though, as Sirius had made sure of for himself, they would be in the same year in Hogwarts.

Anyway,, Scarlet had gotten Harry a picture she had drawn of him and her on broomsticks. The drawing was scribbled down with crayons and signed with a messy scribble which had started with a "S" but somehow ended with a "W" and "V". It was written on a red piece of paper, the same color as their future houses. Just as their fathers had predicted for them by decorating their rooms with countless Gryffindor posters and dressing the two in red Gryffindor pride attire.

Both Remus and Lily had found themselves laughing at their husbands predictions on their child's future but both secretly hoping they were right. Lily was always saying...

"I really don't care what house Harry winds up in as long as he's happy. If that's Slytherin then, I'm happy he's happy," James and Sirius would find themselves gasping and holding each other as they fell to the ground at Lily's words. This was just something along the lines of what went down when the group got together. Sirius would end up saying something like...

"Wormtail, Remus, get off that couch and come over here," Then he would give Lily a look of betrayal and hold his hand over his heart dramatically, "Red, how could you?!?!" They would all laugh at Sirius's somewhat terrific acting and Lily would shake her head. The next words would be along the lines of...

"Lily, honey, we're getting a divorce! And I'm keeping the child," This made everyone burst out in tears and even Lily found herself going along with her husbands acting by gasping and saying...

"Harry? How could you do that to him?!" James, of course, would take Lily's acting too far and would rush over to her muttering lines of apologies causing everyone to laugh even more. This was just the kind of relationship the group shared much to Lily's dismay. Happy, Sarcastic, Joking. Overall, this was a friendship mean to last forever.

But as the war grew larger and more people were dropping like flies, the group started to worry that they might too. They pushed away thoughts like that though as did everyone else facing this war. They wanted to enjoy what they had now, as long as they were permitted to have it.

That night, Remus and Sirius held each other close as they fell asleep, almost like it was the last time they could. Because that's what everyone had found themselves doing, in times like these. Besides, they never truly knew when they could hold each other again like this. And they wanted every second together to count.

If only they knew what would happen to end the war. If only they knew what would happen after their daughters 2nd birthday. If only they knew, they would hold one another closer.
