"She's fourteen," Camila spoke. Ariana laughed cleaning up the finished cake and wrapping paper from presents, "yes, she is." Camila frowned, "our baby is growing up." Ariana wrapped our arms around Camila, "just wait until she starts dating."

Lauren sat in her room filled to the brim with books, art supplies, music sheets and instruments, and softball trophies. She dodged the dirty clothes on the floor to flip the record on her new player. She then giggled as she played on her new phone.

Lucy:
Laur, you have to make an Instagram or something!! Live a little!!

Lauren rolled her eyes. She wasn't quite sure about social media. Lucy would get frustrated with other girls on the apps but she loved the idea of sharing her art or music-- maybe. She walked out of her room to talk to her moms about her dilemma.

"Mama and Mom?" Ariana and Camila turned around, "yes sweetheart?" Lauren sat at the kitchen table, "I have a question." Ariana glanced at Camila. "Yes, Lo?"

"May I create an Instagram? Lucy and a few girls on my team talk about Snapchat, Twitter. A lot of people my age have them," Lauren explained knowing her moms were overprotective. "I'm surprised you asked," Ariana spoke up. Camila nodded, "we trust you, Lo. However, keep your accounts private as possible okay? And tell us if someone starts to harass you."

Lauren squealed with excitement, "thank you, mama!" She hugged them both and rushed to her room. She downloaded Instagram first and took a few selfies. Lauren then sent them to Lucy.

Lauren: Which ones should I post first?

Lucy: ALL OF THEM!

Lauren only picked one and posted it.

Lauren: My username is jaureguicabello

Lauren noticed Lucy followed, liked, and then commented several times. She laughed to herself and found other peers to follow from her school.

Ariana knocked on Lauren's door and waited for a small 'come in' before entering. "How is the new phone?" She hummed along to the record player as she sat next to Lauren.

"It is fun, so far I only downloaded Instagram. I have most of the softball and choir girls numbers though," Lauren said not looking away from her phone. Ariana shook her head, "You can take a break from it you know? What if we watched movies tonight? Mama is feeling kinda down," Ariana said.

Lauren's eyebrows furrowed, "Why?"

Ariana tucked hair behind Lauren's ear, "because you're fourteen."  Lauren shook her head, "what's the big deal?" Ariana laughed, "You're growing up. When we first got you you were only in the second grade."

Lauren knew Camila and Ariana weren't her real parents. She remembers most of her childhood and how Camila immediately took her in. Occasionally, she visits her mother's grave still.

"We should have a movie night, but before can we go visit my mami?", Lauren asked gently. Ariana nodded, "of course."
