Fear

The government ripped me from my family's arms to be a part of their army. We didn't know how they chose the people they enlisted. All you knew was one day your neighbor was gone, and you were only glad they didn't choose you. Your identity was stripped, you were trained, emotions drained, and your morals shattered. They turned their recruits into emotionless monsters.

I was terrified. Terrified of the circumstances, of what I would face, of what I'd inescapably become. Most of all, I was afraid of what would happen to my family. So much had happened to the families of the enlisted despite the fact that the government took care of them. The thought froze me over with horror.
