Alleppey, the Venice of the East, is a city with an urban population of over 174,000 and is ranked third for its literacy rate among the districts in Kerala. It is the cleanest town in India as per the Centre for Science and Environment. The city is located 28km away from Changanacherry and 46km from Kottayam and 53km from Kochi.

Alleppey is a paradisical town filled with canals, beaches, backwaters and lagoons, making it one of the most popular destinations for tourists. And the major tourist attraction in Kerala is a houseboat cruise in the stunning backwaters that connect Kumarakom and Cochin to the North side and Kollam to the South.

Book a houseboat cruise during the month of August to witness the most competitive Nehru Trophy Boat Race held at Punnamada Lake, near Alappuzha. Other must visit places in Alleppey includes Alappuzha Beach, one of its kind with a view of the Laccadive Sea, Pathiramanal, Mannarasala Temple, Edathua Church, Alappuzha CSI Christ Church (the oldest Anglican church in Central Kerala) and so on. With close proximity to the sea, Alleppey's climate is hot and humid during the summer season but remains fairly cool during October and November.

It's a holiday season right now and if you are planning to book a weekend getaway or vacation, plan it to Alleppey. Tours in India gives you incredible packages for houseboat cruises. Drop us a message or contact us to know more. Visit our website : https://toursinindia.in/houseboats-in-alleppey
