Luke's Pov
Today has been a good day at school, but I hate weekends. It must be weird hearing that from a twelve-year-old boy, right? But not to me or my family, right now I'm at home with my older sister Lyrah and my two younger sisters Danielle and little Amelia.
I love my sisters very much and even more so since mom had left. My mother was a beautiful woman and was gentle. She would sing to us before we would sleep, but things changed.Since she left us almost four years ago a two months after my little sister Amelia was born. She just was gone, no letter, no goodbye no nothing. I can still remember it very clearly.
Back then I was seven, it was close to my birthday when she left.
Flashback~~~~~
It was bedtime and mom was going to sing us to sleep like always. She came into the room with a huge red hand print on her face. It covered her entire left cheek, she looked like she was crying too. Her hazel eyes were all red and puffy. Her medium pretty curly brown hair was covering parts of her face.
Lyrah got out of bed and ran over to mom; hugging her. Lyrah was wearing her dark blue spaghetti strap nightgown with her short wavy dark brown hair with black streaks. She kept asking mom what was wrong and did it happen again? At the time I did not understand what was going on so I thought nothing of it.
Mom just nodded and smiled at Lyrah, she kneeled down and whispered something too big sis. Lyrah just nodded her head and came back to bed with Danielle and me. Little Amelia was in the crib next to our bed sound asleep.
Mom wiped her face with her sleeves and starts to walk towards us. We start to get comfy in the big bed me on the wall is me. In the middle is little Danielle, then big sis at the edge of some room for mom to sit. She tucks us in and kisses our foreheads, then sits down at the foot of the bed. Then she sings to us good night.
Flashback over~~~~~~
After that night we never saw her again. When she was saying goodnight it was it had a double meaning to it. Ever since that night, 'OWEN' started to beat on us. Lyrah would take most of it; she would always try her best to give us a great life. Even if it cost her own happiness, she always says that she loves us more than life. She is basically our mother and sister in a way. Since she started to streetfight and getting money for it she will finally soon take us away from here. And away from him forever.
I would always try my best to help heal her wounds. She pushes herself so much that she sometimes passes out of exhaustion but does not tell us. She hates to see us worried about her or anything. Lyrah is the strongest person that I know in the whole world. It's crazy that it's hard to imagine life without her.
"Come on guys its time for bed" big sis calls for us. I look at the time and see its eight o'clock wow time flys when you are lost in thought. Lyrah picks up little sleeping Amelia from the couch sucking her thumb.
We start to go upstairs; Danielle is right next to me with Lyrah carrying Amelia behind us. As we reach the top of the stairs we hear the car park in our driveway. Then the doorknob started to jiggle as fear and hatred filled my being; my hazel greenish eyes went huge and my bottom lip started a quiver. Danielle was the same as me; she death gripped my side.
'Shit' whispered Lyrah under her breath, she looks at us. She starts to push us down the short beige hallway to the end towards her bedroom' well our bedroom.
When we reach the room, as we run towards the closet there is a secret hidden room that we use whenever OWEN comes home. Once the small door is open, I head in first then Danielle. Lyrah passes Amelia to us as I grab the bat that is next to the small bed under the blanket. She always said that if he ever finds them there to use the bat to defend the girls and me.
