"Are you sure about this?" I turned to Rebecca who was stretching her body, her arms in front of her to light the center candle. She looked back and silently smiled, accidentally tilting the match the wrong way and nearly setting Amberlyn's skirt alight.

"What the hell?" Amberlyn yelled. "Watch it!"

"She distracted me." Rebecca cried, as she jut her head forward towards me in blame and then lit the candle, sitting back down in her spot.

"I was only talking to you. No one told you to look back!" I called defensively.

"Let's just get this over with, okay? I have to be home at 8." Dinah chimed in.

She stood up to turn the light off so that we could be in the darkness with nothing but the candles vigorously burning.

"Who did you guys pick?" Amberlyn asked.

Dinah held up a picture of Ashley, placing it in the middle, just left of the center candle. Rebecca smiled, holding up a picture of Markus, and then placed it on top of Ashley's picture. I added a picture of Gollum to the pile. Everyone laughed, and then I smiled, "What? I fell in love with his personality."

After the laughs died down, I swapped the picture for Jacob, an A-list actor on a hit t.v. show.

"Isn't he married?" Amberlyn asked as she put Nick's picture over Jacob's. I rolled my eyes.

"With three kids?" Dinah added, raising her eyebrows in surprise.

"This love spell isn't really gonna work, is it?" I didn't wait for an answer. "Well, that's the point."

"And what if it does?" Rebecca called.

"Well, then, trust me, I'm no home wrecker," I said.

Rebecca sighed loudly, "Don't be bringing us into the drama you get into."

"What am I supposed to do?" I suddenly called. "I don't like anyone!"

"I guess it works," Dinah remarked.

We spread the photos out in a line, join hands and began to chant.

Midway, Rebecca's phone rang. She looks down at the screen, "no way."

We were all squinting our eyes open now, watching as Rebecca stared down at her phone in shock.

"Guys, don't break the concentration!" Dinah scolded. As she said this, the candle that is dead center put itself out. As if by command, all the other candles did the same and we were left in utter darkness.

Were it not for us holding hands, we would all be expected to lose it.

"Was that supposed to happen?" Amberlyn's voice was shaky and concerning.

"Maybe it was because Rebecca broke the concentration," I suggested.

"Shut it," Rebecca barked.

"Should we start over?" I asked.

"I don't think so...," Rebecca answered.

We followed Dinah's orders to continue on with the spell, Rebecca frowning deeply, deadly disappointed that she could not answer her phone.
