Head down, hood up. A simple phrase I tell myself everyday. My head faced toward the ground to avoid human interaction. Hood up to make sure no sunlight seeps in.

My feet crunched on the dirt below me. The sun seems to beam on everything besides me. Birds, chirping their usual tune. The animals mind their own business. Everything is at ease. Almost everything that is.

My mind is in constant chaos and fear. A paranoia that even myself can't explain. The fear of trusting someone. I'm afraid that if I open myself up, my walls will crumble once more. After my so called 'dad' left,I told myself that everything will be okay. That I don't need everyone's emotional support. Because eventually, tables will turn. Humans are just like parasites. They'll use you until you have nothing left. And just like that, they'll leave.

I came to a halt. I looked up at the clear, azure sky. The bright sun shone on my face. I used my hand to cover the illuminating light. Causing my caramel skin to glisten. My thoughts began to wander about, which threw me off task. I sighed, putting my hand down to its former position along with my head. I continued to trudge along the path.

Arriving at my destination, I hesitated to open the shop door. 'Walk in, buy some medicine, walk out.' Little to no social interaction. I took a deep breath before opening the door.

The bell chimed as soon as I walked in. Alerting the shopkeeper of his new customer. "Welcome young lady. I hope you find everything you need," the man spoke.

I didn't want to speak. Hell, I shouldn't speak. But I always remember, speak when you are spoken to. "Hello," was all I said in my usual dull voice, trying to hide any emotion behind it.

Turning around swiftly, I made my way to where the medicine was. Glancing around, I found what I was looking for. I grabbed the medicine from the shelf while looking at the price. '8 bronze'. Damn, that's expensive. Maybe it's just the budget I'm on. The state I'm currently living in is not the best. A one-story house with one room.

Shaking off my thoughts, I walked up to the register and handed the man the proper amount of money. "Have a nice day!" he exclaimed, giving a smile.

"Thanks," I said as I walked away.

Closing the door behind me, I took a glance at the road. It seemed to be a bit crowded. I was only in the shop for a few minutes, three at most. So where did all of these people come from? I quickly turned to the direction my house was in. I came to a stop. Or more like, I was stopped by a person.

A young woman who looked to be in her early twenties. She had purple curly hair that reached down to her waist. Her attire was very professional like. A white dress shirt with an onyx skirt. Her black heels collided with the road as she walked towards me. " I'm sorry Miss but this road is closed until Lily Falcon arrives," she explained in a high pitched voice. With the tone she spoke in, I knew she wasn't sorry.

"Well I have somewhere to go. Now, can I leave?" I interrogated, slightly irritated.

"Lily ordered that all civilians must remain here until after she leaves," she said.

Her emerald eyes locked with mine. "Some of us actually have duties to attend to. We don't have time for things like this. I couldn't care less if Lily is the next lord of this village."

The girl glared at me. "You should respect her. She is taking over after she gets married."

"I couldn't care less," I retorted, walking past her and onto the road.

Just as I walked past her, I heard a horse galloping right ahead of me. The noise caught my attention. I paused, looking to see what it was. A horse drawn carriage was coming my way. I swiftly moved out of the way.

The moving vehicle showed no signs of hesitation as it made its way down the jagged, dirt road.Once the carriage reached where the purplette and I were. The door opened slowly. Well, more like it was opened by a servant.

And from that carriage came out a woman of high status. A type of woman that's presence enough will make you feel incompetent. She looked in my direction. Her appearance speaks 'elegant', but her aura says another thing. Something that makes me feel unimportant. She's like a lion and I'm nothing but pray.

The ravenette stared at me. Her teal eyes looked deep into my soul. Her peach lips turned into a frown. "Michi, who is this woman and why is she here? Is she not supposed to be with all of the other commoners?" the woman asked, turning to the purplette.

"I'm sorry Ma'am. She was not taking orders."

The black-haired woman snarled. "I specifically told you not to let anyone pass until I have left," she sighed, obviously agitated.

"It won't happen again Ma'am. I'll make sure of it."

The ravenette then looked back at me. "You," she began, "Do things when you are told to the first time."

    "And what if I don't?" I interrogated.

She sighed deeply. She stepped out of the carriage fully. She eyed my up and down. "I take it that you are not a woman of high status," she said with a straight face.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" I asked, not really caring.

"Exactly what I said. Look at yourself," she said, pointing to me.

She is not wrong. I never took care of myself. I couldn't care less about what people say about me. "Of course a plebeian such as yourself can't follow simple directions," she sneered.

She then got back inside the carriage. "You should stay and watch the celebration. It's very rare that a future lord such as myself comes to town."

Those were the last words I heard from her before she rode off. I sighed, walking away in the process. "Aren't you going to stay? After all, Lily just confronted you about trying to leave," The purplette who I assume is Michi said.

"I have problems of my own to deal with," I said before I walked away.

"Mother, I'm home," I said as I closed the door behind me. Our house isn't in great condition. The walls feel like they are suffocating us. Parts of the floor have been broken. We've had to deal with rodents outside once. And, let's not forget that we aren't in the safest neighborhood. The place is standing on its last limbs.

"Aphmau," she croaked. She is currently in bed, considering the condition she is in. Been sick for two years now. Coughing up blood is common for her. "Yes, I'm home," I said as I took my cloak off.

I began to brew her medicine. Her coughs emitted through the petite house. While this is all happening, a knock came from the door. Stopping what I was doing, I walked to the front door. I opened it to see who it was.

A slightly older man was standing before me. He looked down at me, considering how tall he was and how short I am. He'd come the day I don't have the money. The landlord.
