Strings of Life is a one-shot I wrote back in high school under the name The Harp Player and the Violinist. Out of all the short stories and one-shots I've wrote in high school, this one held a special spot in my heart for many reasons. Not only was it fun to write, but it was something I could connect to as I was heavily involved in the arts.

As a girl who basically grew up in the band room, I've always had a special spot for the arts. Whether this is creative writing, acting, dancing, or even playing an instrument of any kind, I know the dedication it takes just to do any of this as an extracurricular activity, but to take it to the next level and pursue that even further, that takes dedication.

Therefore, I want to just take the time to notice the time it goes into that. If you've ever participated in the arts for the fun of it, or plan on pursuing a career, then just know your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. It may feel like that at times, but don't ever give up. At the same time, don't ever lose yourself in it as well.

Full disclaimer: I've never played the violin or the harp. Everything that is mentioned about these instruments is based off of what I've seen in performances, heard from friends who pursued in the arts, and research I've done post-high school days to make this story as realistic as possible.

That doesn't mean there won't be mistakes. If you play one of these instruments and find a cringeworthy mistake, please feel free to comment or message me about the ordeal so that I can correct it. After all, I am human. I make mistakes every day, just like everyone else.

Now, without further ado, I hope you enjoy Strings of Life, a story I created back in high school for a mere class, and is now rewritten for your enjoyment.
