The coffee shop is getting pretty busy now baby, it seems as if the entire town is here. Except one. I'm watching an old couple and I'm thinking of us. I do that quite often. I'm thinking of the time we made our only promise to each other. Just for hells sake I'll tell you it.
April 25, 1999 we stood there, hands in hands starring at each other. Two rings were placed in front of me and everything was going by so fast I could barely see. I was so nervous. I grabbed your ring and you grabbed mine and as we put them on eachother fingers, I saw you glance to the side- towards someone sitting in the front. But I dismissed it. Then when you looked back up at me your eyes changed- you were scared, sad and pleading to me. That's when we said our vows. I vowed that I will love you to where is no point. I vowed to support, care, cherish and nurture you in anyways possible. I vowed that I will treat you like a queen- the way you deserve to be treated. As I was saying this I heard distant sniffles and gasps for breathe. But then you interrupted me- which I could say, couldn't have been done any better. You then said that you didn't need to vow to love me because it would be impossible not too. Peoples faces grew still and I was for some reason nervous for what was coming. You sighed and looked deep into my eyes and said
"They only thing we need to vow to each other is to grow old with each other. I would love that."
Sobs erupted like lightning and I held your face then whisper
"I vow to grow old with you even through death."
No one heard but they didn't need to, I was talking to you as if you were the only one in the room. I wish it was like that again. We then kissed like never before. Our tongues danced the salsa and we gripped each other's faces as if life depended on it.
Life did depend on it.
Due to that kiss though, we never made the after party.
Everything after that was a blur. As we were running towards the car, flower pedals being thrown at us and people cheering we kissed. Not even looking ahead we grabbed each other's hands and ran.
