Walking down the sidewalk I saw new faces, new clothing choices, new shops, and my new school.
Dad said he got me a studio apartment and would pay the rent. He said twice a week he would send some of the things from my old room and pictures of him and the family. He asked if I wanted funeral pictures, but I don't want to see my mom like that, even though it would be a closed casket. I cant stand the thought of my mother laying in a box 6 feet under next to some stranger.
I tried looking for a cab but I soon realized that cabs aren't a thing in Cali. Only Uber. I know disappointing.
I had 50 bucks in my purse. Is that gonna be enough?
I called a uber. Its $40 to get to the apartment (this is a nice apartment REAL apartment so please take into consideration that real people live here and this a very nice apartment and what is said in the story does not mean it is what the real apartment is like I am simply using the address and building style- HitTracer12 aka the author)
"Are you Casey" the uber driver said to me as he pulled up to the side walk. "yes I'm Casey..." I said hesitantly. I nervously got into the back seat of the car. I was extremely scared and told the driver, "4440 Twain Ave, San Diego, CA 92120 Studioplease."
He drove me to the red and white box like building. "Here you are," he said, "that'll be $40." I handed him the money and made my way out of the car door. As he drove off I was relived but more scared of the fact that I am alone again. Standing on the sidewalk, I pulled out my phone. it was on 15%. I called my dad praying he answered would answer. It took me 10 minutes till I even got service. It was really awkward just standing on the sidewalk like that. I'll be ok. I hope...
He finally answered! "DAD! IM SO SCARED!"
"wa-I-can-t-he-r-ou"
We lost connection. I tried to call him back but... my phone died.
I gave in. I walked into the building I was amused by the modern decor in the lobby. I noticed the gym around the corner, 3-10 feet I presume. Behind the indoor to outdoor pool was a massive gym with around 50 work out machines.
"Hello ma'am?"
I jumped in shock of the unexpected man that showed up behind me. "are you looking to rent?" he said with a soft smile. He was extremely attractive with black hair and piercing blue eyes that cut into me like a freshly sharpened knife cutting a boiled egg.
I popped out of my trance. "Uh yeah I believe I already have a room and the first 4 months paid off."
"OH YES we have your room ready! we've been expecting you Ms. Casey" he said with smiling eyes.
He grabbed 1 of my bags and rolled it to the elevator me following not far behind him. I didn't have much just a backpack, purse, and 2 suitcases. He held the elevator open for me. I nodded in thanks, he smiled softly.
We made it up the elevator, "top floor, floor C." He walked me to the end of the hallway. The last door on the left, 34 C. The 34 was above the key slot on the door. The door was a dull red color with a giant gold C on the door. I soon came to realize all of the doors had their floor letter plastered in gold on the door.
The man placed my bag on the floor and opened the room 34's door. Just from looking inside it was nice, empty, but nice. "Here's your key," he handed me a silver key. "Just in case you lose this key we have 1 more down in the lobby but if you want a spare you will have to buy one from a key maker." I nodded my head in agreement.
He made his way towards the elevator, as he pressed the button he smiled and waved at me. I couldn't help but smile back... I mumbled under my breathe, "wow."
I turned around sighing. "here we go" I stepped into the empty room with my suitcases and bag. (I am about to show a picture of a real studio apartment from the inside this is what the layout of the apartment will look like just remove the furniture)
My jaw dropped as I looked into the apartment and my eyes made direct contact with the balcony and the beautiful view. I walked through the hallway, bags in hand closer to the balcony. I placed my luggage where I plan on putting my bed.
I walked to the door jaw dropped as I reached for the door nob. With my hand resting on the nob I let the gorgeous illuminating sun shine down upon me through the glass door. I opened the door to be blinded by light only to hear the ragging city below. The sound of pavement crunching, rubber rolling, cars honking, helicopters flying, police sirens, ambulance's, and the people... The sounds filled my head like something with a somewhat pleasant headache. Not the kind that hurt but the kind that makes you want to curl up and sleep in the dark.
I can't though. I need a bed first. Or at least a couch or sleeping bag, blankets, and a pillow.
