Diane's pov

It was quiet for the rest of the study break. Time waited for me to sink into comfort before my alarm went off for me to go, vibrating in my pocket.
...
Guess what time it is?! Math. mAtH is here!! I sat patiently into the chair I claimed, taking out my laptop. We all needed laptops everyday, every class. I even have stellar astronomy, but only have it in the evening since only the dark sky itself can display the eye catching wonders.

Most of the people in here are strangers, at least 70 people in this class. I wanted to go to the back but I know I can't see in the front. I wanted to go to the front but I don't wanna sacrifice my corner.....well just this one class I sacrificed it.

More people came in, talk about making friends here, this isn't kindergarten you know. I found myself doodling constellations and half writing names of stars to add in my astronomy journal. I have this whole row of four empty chairs all to myself, this is the best day ever- no people, no socializing-just me to myself!!!

A few people noticed me and said my name, I waved back. But, they knew I valued personal space a lot. I think I'm the queen of this place! Okay I'm thinking too much. I was in all thoughts as I was doodling. I took out my astronomy book that I was reading, checking the time on my phone, great five minutes until class starts. 'Capella, the brightest star in the constellation Auriga is known for its golden glow and shine. The binary star system is also part of the asterism 'The Kids' which are goats and-' my reading was stopped by someone roughly sitting in a chair next to me.

"What are you reading now lil girl?" a familiar deep voice asked me. I turned around, beside me. Ughhh why him?! WHY ME?! I turn back to my book.

"Really?" he trails off with curiosity wrapped in his voice, he swiftly snatches the book out of my hands. "Hey!!" I grab for my precious one as he lifted it up higher so I couldn't reach it. I deal with enough with Travis as it is and now this guy!!! He was reading it as I was struggling to grab it even with jumps. "You read that weird stuff?"

"Give it back!!" I growl. "Or what?"

"Darrius, if you don't leave her alone!" I hear a distant voice I turn around noticing an averaged height girl. Tight fitting jeans, flat sandals that covered her toes and heel with a ribbon  wrapping her ankles, a denim jacket and grey v neck. Her hair was two natural buns on her head that suited her facial features just right, makeup, cat eyes, bubble gum chewing in her mouth. "I'm just playing with her!"

"Yeah like all the others. You and everyone else know you ain't got a chance with her as long as Travis is there!!" she walks down quickly, time pressing for class about to start.

"He messin' with you?" she walks up beside him. His reflexes relax along with the book, she snatched it out of his hand and gave it back to me. "I'm Tasha by the way. This annoyance here is Darrius"

"I wasn't an annoyance the other night!" "shut up" she punches him playfully. Can someone wake me up and save me? Or at least call my name? (Wake me up wake me up inside I CANT WAKE UP-)

Darrius is pretty cute but not cute enough-maybe for someone else- okay I do admit he is attractive to look at but it's a no thank you for me, I'm taken. Even if I was still single I still would've said no. I was saying no when Travis was bothering me then. Please let class start now!

"All right, sorry I'm late, I was at Starbucks. Let's get this done" the professor walks in to his desk and places his things down, the projector is switched on as the equations slowly fade in on the large board.

The shuffling and sounds of zippers and paper quickly filled the room. I already had my things out, so I started writing. I looked up at the first of 5 equations- UGH WHY PI!? I struggled with this last year!!! If only Travis was right beside me, then I would've remembered it. I think you plug in this number and - forget it I'm moving on- but Diane, you can't solve your problems by running away from them.....did I just pun myself? ...MOVING ON!

Erm, Pythagorean Theorem...right.....if I don't quit punning myself I'm gonna cry me a river. Sin....uhhhh opposite and adjacent? RIGHT! Eight goes here and ten goes there, then Cos is adjacent and hypotenuse, then Tan is .........opposite and adjacent. Hm, reminds me of Travis' skin, tan. The way his eyes just suit his skin color so well, almost perfectly. DIANE! FOCUS! FOCUS ON TRAVIS-ER, NO! FOCUS ON ME-I mean, work.

I was half-way into daydreaming until a paper slid under my writing hand- my right hand. I looked at Darrius, who was writing the work down on his paper, then at the paper he just gave me. Pencil written words were on the paper, the small but neat lightly written hand-writing, with each delicate lead pencil stroke was shining in the light of the classroom. 'Your smile looks great to be working on this crap' I wrote something under the first line of the notebook paper, it was hard to keep my sarcasm low without sounding rude.

I sometimes become blunt without realizing it, being the Sag I am, 'no'. I passed the paper back to him, and went back to my work. Before I knew it, it was passed back to me, why did I say anything in the first place? 'If it's about what happened earlier, sorry. anything else?' I didn't show any reaction, since I was in the front section of the classroom. 'yeah to leave me alone'. It went from that to a conversation of whispers, "You really like playing hard to get aren't you?" he starts.  "No" I sigh, annoyed.  "If you think I'm trying to hit on you I'm not. I'm just sparing you"

"For what?"  I ask.

"It won't be long before you fall for me"

"That'll be a long time then." I mutter.
