Chapter 2: Test Dummy

 The sun slowly started to rise, with that Wade drew himself out of bed feeling disappointed, he had spent the whole night studying the "tortoise barrier skill", but his efforts were for naught as he wasn't able to understand the skill at all.

 Wade then opened the door to his hut and stared at his surroundings. Out of all the people of the younger generation in the clan he had the worst courtyard, and as much as he tried to not let it bother him, it still pissed him off.

 He went back inside the hut and changed into a new suit of clothes then started making his way to the assembly hall.

 Shortly after, he arrived at the entrance to the assembly hall. He unhurriedly made his way inside

 Seeing that someone was entering the hall some people glanced over and then went back to doing what they were doing, to those people Wade wasn't even worth a second glance from them.

 After walking into the hall, Wade found himself a chair around an empty table in the corner of the hall and sat.

 A little after that he looked up at the front of the hall, there was a throne with an old man seated on it, he had on a robe with an ice and fire emblem embedded on it. That was the crest of the Zander clan.

 Naturally, the man seated in the throne was the Zander clan's patriarch, Richard Zander. There were two astonishingly beautiful girls standing to his right. They were about the same age as Wade. Seemingly they were twins as they had the same facial features but even so, their aura's were completely different.

 One gave off the feeling as if she were an untouchable goddess, holy and pure, and the other one gives people the feeling as if anyone could be friends with her, and as expected, they drew the attention of all the males of the younger generation in the clan with even some of the older generation among them.

 Wade himself couldn't take his eyes off of the one that gave off a friendly vibe.

 "Ahem!" seeing how all the males were starring at the females so boldly the patriarch cleared his throat loudly.

 hearing that, The males slowly came back to their senses and lowered their heads in embarrassment.

 Seeing that the males regained their senses the patriarch slowly stood up and said,"the ladies to my right are Dalia and reina, they are from the Celestial rune academy.

 Hearing that, everyone in the hall opened their mouths wide in astonishment. The Celestial run academy, as the name implies, is a 2nd tier institution for runecrafters.

 Young people go there to improve their skills in rune crafting. It was extremely difficult to get accepted into it.

 Runes are small Talisman shaped magical carving that when placed on someone it grants them all different sorts of  power boosts, but it all depended on the user if their body was compatible with runes, some people can hold multiple runes.

 Runes also came into different grades with grade 1 being the lowest.

The two girls walked out and bowed to the crowed, this was a sign of greeting.

 The patriarch continued,"They came to our clan for the purpose of finding candidates to help them practice for the upcoming rune crafting competition."

 The rune crafting competition was an event held by the 3 second tier rune crafting institutions of the town of kingyang. They were the Celestial rune academy, Dark night temple and the Elven runic university.

 The patriarch finished up by saying,"all the younger generation under the age of 15 will come up and test your compatibility with runes."

 Shortly after he finished talking an elder walked up to him and handed him what seemed to be a black orb the size of an infant's head.

 The patriarch placed the orb on a table near by, he waved his hand and the first person started walking to the orb, he took up the orb, he placed the orb in his palm and started infusing his mana into it.

 The orb slowly started showing signs of changes, it turned purple. Seeing this, the person holding the orb was overjoyed but not even 2 seconds later the orb turned back pitch black, witnessing this, the once overjoyed youth was now sulking in disappointment as he slowly walked back to his seat with his head lowered.

 This cycle repeated it self over and over again with the exception of 3 people. It's said that if the orb stays on purple for at least 5 seconds, your body is compatible with runes.

 Everyone went up, now, lastly, it was Wade's turn.

 Seeing Wade walking up to the orb, all the members of the  younger generation were smiling coldly, none of them thought Wade could keep the orb purple for 5 seconds.

 Wade arrived at the table and picked  the orb up, he then started infusing his mana into it.

 Shortly after,  the orb turned purple and right when everyone thought that the orb would return to black..it didn't, they were astonished....2...3...4...5 seconds.

 "5, 5 seconds, he actually made the orb stay purple for 5 seconds!"

 Everyone in the hall was surprised including himself. He never would have thought that his body could actually hold runes.

 The patriarch's eyes twinkled, he then said,"Henry, Stewart, Haley and Wade step forward."

 The four of them stood forward in front of everyone.

 The Patriarch followed up by saying,"you four have been given the chance of being chosen by either Reina or Dalia."

 Dalia then stood forward and raised her hand, she was the girl that gave of a pure and holy feeling. She then pointed at Stewart,"i choose him," she said.

 Seeing that he was chosen he was overjoyed to the point where he started crying tears of joy.

 Wade silently laughed to himself, he found this scene rather funny.

 After Dalia chose who she wanted Reina stepped forward and started raising her hand slowly.

 The two people standing beside Wade were panicking, you could almost hear their heartbeat, they really wanted to get picked.

 Reina raised her finger and pointed at who she wanted and surprisingly it was neither Henry nor Haley but instead it was Wade.

 Everyone's mind went blank, she actually chose Wade.

 "Miss, are you sure?" asked the patriarch, he was also quite surprised.

 "Yes, I choose him," she said calmly.

 Henry and Haley were looking at Wade with immense hatred in their eyes," this piece of trash is so lucky," they thought.

 Wade himself was also quite unhappy; to others this was a once in life time opportunity to get close to the girls and maybe get a chance to enter the Celestial rune academy, but not him, he didn't like the idea of being chosen as to him this was no different from being one's test subject.

 Even though he was unhappy he had no choice in the matter so he just silently nodded in conformation.
