I stood outside my old house and walked up the steps, I knocked on the door and waited, the door flew open to reveal Tom holding a smiling gleeful Morgan. "Hi" was all she said. I smiled softly and grabbed her from Tom.
"So I'll see you at six" I said. He nodded and closed the door. I walked with Morgan to the car and set her down in her seat. "Where's dad number two Annie" I flinched hearing her call me by my name.
She had stopped calling me mommy about 3 weeks ago when the court case happened. Her birthday was coming up and I was just not in a good place but I didn't blame Tom anymore. He had sat down with me and Morgan several times telling her to call me mommy but every time she frowned and refused.
It broke my heart but I understood, I had lost her trust and needed to get it back. She started calling Asher dad the day of court which is when she stopped calling me mommy.
"He's at the home Morgan" she smiled and jumped in her seat excitement coursing through her, today was Thursday and Asher had promised to take her to the park. While I stayed home to relax.
Asher has asked me to be his girlfriend about 1 week ago and we haven't stopped being all cuddly and stuff since. I drove to the house and parked the car.
I got out of the car and walked over to the passenger door. I opened it and Morgan jumped out of the car and straight into the house. I sighed and walked in slowly.
"Dadd!" Morgan screamed as she jumped into his arms. She kissed her hand and slapped it onto his cheek, something she had been doing since the court day Asher chuckled hugged her tighter.
"Aye ready to go to the park" asher said. He leaned in and quickly kissed my lips, Morgan gasped with excitement and screamed" YES YES LETS GO" and boom they were gone. I walked to the master bedroom and lied down. Tears streamed down as I though of everything.
I had lost my babygirl.
Ashers pov
I strapped Morgan into her car seat and off we drove. I had become closer with her, she was now calling me dad and doing this cute thing where she kissed her hand and slaps it onto my face. I'm really happy that I got to meet her.
We drove with Morgan singing along to Moana soundtracks and me, I'm just sitting there driving with an everlasting smiled. I was glad to call her my kid.
We pulled up at the park and I immediately noticed Tom sitting on a bench with his head in his hands. He looked to be in distress. I groaned knowing that I was gonna have to address him.
"Come on Morgan" I grabbed her hand and looked around the park. It was small so I knew it was okay that she was alone there. Go play Morgan.
She rushed over to the swings and sat down. I made my way over to Tom and sat down on the bench next to him. "Hey" was all he said.
His voice sounded hoarse and just terrible. "Hey are you good man". He sniffled and looked up at me. His eyes were red and puffy and he just looked like he'd been crying for hours.
" i don't know man I don't know" He put his head down as he spoke. " I feel so bad man" I turned my head in confusion not knowing what he meant. "Whatcha mean" I said.
He sighed and rubbed his eyes, "I feel bad man. I took her kid from her. It's just I love this kid so fucking much, I just thought it would be better if she was with me" I sighed and said something I didn't even know I agreed with.
"Honestly I think that Morgan would be better with you tom. She has a good dad right now blood related or not. Yes I would love to take her home with me, I would love for her to call me daddy and not dad number two, but that's not my decision is it? No it's hers. Hell she didn't even have a dad until you stepped in Tom. So if anything I should be the one feeling like shit not you" he wiped his eyes and gave a soft smile.
"Thanks man. Aye no hard feelings?" I chucked and shook his waiting hand. "No hard feelings man" I repeated.
"DADDY!" Me and Tom frantically looked up to see Morgan sitting on the swing with her mad face in. " push me" we stood there confused as to which one she meant.
She rolled her eyes and waved her hand motioning for us to go to her. "Both if you push me pleaseee" I smiled and me and Tom got on either side and began to push her. We played with her for the rest of the day until it was 5:50
Morgan was asleep in my arms, " Hey we only have ten minutes do you just want to take her home?" I asked. Tom nodded and grabbed her from my arms. She stirred and opened her eyes.
She reached her arms out to me signaling to grab her. Tom gave her to me and she hazily stared me I the face. She kissed her hand and put it on my cheek.
"Night dad number two" I wished her a goodnight and handed her to Tom. She closers her eyes clinging onto Tom. He shook me hand and bit his lip.
"Listen thanks for giving me that little pep talk think today I appreciate it" I nodded at his words and stepped back.
" it's all good man, aye take care of her yeah, I'll see you guys next Tuesday" Tom nodded and walked off. I walked to the car and got in.
I smiled to myself as I drove home. I had actually connected with Morgan, and I was happy. Really happy.
Today had been a good ass day
