The sky was blue as the calm ocean under the evening sun on a clear day.
The birds can be heard  chirping away as they danced to the melodious call of nature to mate.
The tree covered the field while creating a cool shade over the soft green luscious grass.
I laid under it body stretched out, head resting over my hands as I used them to support myself for maximum comfort.
I looked to the sky noticing every shape the slow white clouds keep making as the wind gently moves it away, wishing I could capture the moment before it all fades out.
I thought too soon, as my mind wandered away from my vision I closed my eyes and sighed.
Opening them I found myself back in the same familiar place I’ve been at for only God knows how long.
The three aged windows stood across the room with an exception of one difference from the rest, he stood looking at me over the left window close to the door, looking up at him I smiled and rushed back to writing what I just saw in the clouds.
I heard him mumble to himself, as I looked for my book of words.
Writing down all I saw I fazed out into my thoughts once more, his words brought me back to the shack again breaking my concentration, “ m, wake the hell up“ he said.
Not knowing what was happening I simply replied “ what do you want” he tends to be too careful most times,
“ listen to me carefully, you need to run, run away and never look back, go as far as you can, anywhere but here”
he continued, at that moment I wasn’t really paying attention to the details but I could tell from his gaze and how he was sweating on such a calm night, something most be wrong.
“ you are beginning to scare me “
was all I could say to him as he exhaled trying to explain.
“ what is coming? You are scaring me “
All he could say to me was
“ trust me, it’s time “
I didn’t really understand what he was on about but the fear in him scared the life out of me.
“ go fast, we’ve already wasted much time”
He said to me
I could feel his grip on my hand getting stronger As his trembled with fear, looking deep into his eyes, what I saw confirmed my deepest fears.
I put my hands on his shoulder as I whispered
“ what are you talking about, you don’t mean? “
He just looked back at me with eyes lost as he gazed into nothingness with a slight sign of deep thoughts, he managed to whisper
“ yes, he is here “
At that moment I could no longer look him in the eyes do the thought of it alone sent my head in a spiral of fear and a taste of hopelessness, I whispered
“ we got rid of him didn’t we? He can’t still be here, you most be making a mistake “
He just replied me in a shaky tone yet affirming
“ you know I’m never wrong “
His gaze quickly went back to the window he was looking out of earlier, he froze for a moment before he continued
“ no time now M, you have to take the rear door and run, whatever you do don’t turn back just keep running”
Emotions came over me as his words hit my ears, all I could say was
“ but N he will devour you “
All I heard him say was
“ I know M, I know “
Holding on to his words as he spoke I didn’t want to believe our protector is making a sacrifice of himself for my sake
“ then why are y… “
He didn’t let me finish my sentence as he pulled me closer to his face dragging me by the shirt I had own, almost tearing the pocket as he didn’t hold back on his strength.
“ don’t worry about me, just get the hell out of here now, think of a way to save yourself I’ll try and slow him down “
Was all he said as he pointed towards the backdoor., turning me by my shoulder with his other hand to face the door.
I looked back at him saying
“ I can help you “
For the first time since we got here I saw him smile as he said
“ don’t make me laugh, now get moving, Get out now “
Forcing myself to turn around I opened the door and looked into the darkness, only the moon lit the sky as shadows from the trees cast a spooky scenario about to unfold.
Taking my first step outside the door, I turned around
“ I will save us, I promise “
The first few steps got me stepping into a puddle of mud, missing a step I almost fell down but regained a bit of balance as I slowed down from the long fast steps I’ve been taking. I heard a loud bang coming from behind me, N’s words echoed in my ears
“what ever you do, don’t turn back”
I called myself a coward as my steps got faster and my long strides became a speed run, I picked up the pace and ran for the woods, leaving the barely visible path and stepping into the bushes, clothes torn by stray branches as the latch out for a feeling of the scared to make me all the more afraid.
A second sound came from a distance behind me, I fell to the ground as I felt a void in my chest, with the light in the sky disappearing into nothingness I know, oh I know
“N”
“you are gone”
