Flash.
I looked out the window just in time to see a flash of lightning.
"1...2...3..." I whispered
Boom.
"That one was close ma." I stated
"Krystal ? Why don't you go pack some stuff in a back pack." my mom said worrie in her voice.
"Okay."
"And by stuff I mean stuff for survival."
"Yes Mom." I tried not to roll my eyes.
As I ran up the stairs I saw another flash of lightning. This time I only got to 2 before I heard the loud crakle of thunder. I hurried up stairs and found a backpack. I put a flashlight with extra batteries in side the bag, along with a waterproof coat and some lighters. I then ran down the stairs and packed some food inside the bag. There was another flash of lightning this time I could see it. I knew that it was time to leave.
"Mom!" I hollered. "Where are you? We should go now, and we are done packing."
"Coming." I heard my mom say back.
She emerged from her room with her own bag.
"K. Let's go now."
We ran out the door. And drove to the friends house the my brother, John, was at.
We jumped out of the car and ran to the door. John was all ready to go.
"Wow. This storm so cool!" John said.
I shook my head no. He just rolled his eyes.
"Your no fun. It's is the coolest thing ever."
I looked out the window trying to ignore the loud thunder clashes. We stopped for a little supper. But then since we had nothing to do we tryied to get some sleep.
"Mom?" I asked quietly.
"Yes Krystal?"
"Where is Dad?" I heard Mom sigh.
"He got stuck at work. He said he doesn't know when he'll be aloud to leave."
I didn't say anything after that. It was really difficult to fall asleep, but I eventually did. I only dreamed of darkness.
I woke up with a stiff neck. John was still asleep but Mom was awake. She took out the bread form her pack.
"Here." She held out the bread to me. "This will be our breakfast."
"Thanks."
At this point John woke up.
"Hey," He said "the storm stoped."
I of course already knew this but let it be. We decided to drive to a store so we could get some more food that would help us longer.
"Kids?" My Mom said.
"Yes." John and I replied.
"Wait in side the store I'm gonna see if I can get any cell service to contact your dad." She walked off before we had time to replie.
We did as we were told, we looked around the store in hopes to find some sort of food supplie we could take with us.
"Hey Krystal? What time is it?"
"A little after 4." I replied "Why." I asked getting a nervous feeling in my gut.
"Didn't Mom leave us at around 2."
"Around then yeah." I replied.
We both looked at each other, we didn't need to say anything to know that something had happened to our Mom. We decided to go outside and look for her. When a car stoped.
"You kids lost?" The driver asked us.
"No, we were just shopping for our mom when we got sidetracked." I replied not telling this guy the truth.
Thankfully the guy drove on. Me and John desided to keep on walking. Later when we saw a tv with the news we decided to stay and watch. I barley stifled a scream. The news that was on was about our mother. She looked terrible, like she'd been in a terrible accident.
"Who would do this." John stated horrified.
I started to wonder why we wouldn't of been told, by the police or the hospital. It was then my phone ringed.
"Hello." I answered. The speaker started speaking. It was someone who worked at the hospital. They told me that they found my mom lying on the side off the road looking like she'd been in a brawl. I was also told that my dad was also taken but he unfortunately was not found looking as good. He apparently looked worse, with 4 broken ribs a broken nose an. I said thank you and hung up.
"Mom and Dad are in the hospital." I told John.
