Ch. 6
Waking up the next morning seemed more trivial than I wished. I felt sore, like I had ran a marathon last night. Slowly I sit up and look at the foot of my bed to see a small tray with eggs, toast, and fruit. It looks so appetizing. I instantly start eating. Halfway through my breakfast, I hear a slight chuckle coming from the chair by my window. I look over to see Charles sitting there watching me.
"Oh my gosh! What are you doing in here, I look like crap. I'm still in my pajamas." I shrieked
Laughing at me he walks to by bed and sits on the corner, " I think you look amazing with your madusa style hairdo. You should teach me how to do that one day."
"ha ha, your so funny. Really, what are you doing in here?"
"I'm waiting for you to get out of bed so you can go riding with me, there is something I want to show you."
"You expect me to ride a horse? Good luck with that one."
"of course I don't, I wouldn't trust a yankee on one of my paints. Make sure you wear something you don't mind getting dirty in." and with that he walked out the door.
Riding, but not on a horse, and I am going to get dirty? Ugh, I hate being dirty. Well, I guess it might be worth it if I get to spend the day with Charles. I might even get to learn some more about my powers. Oh I hope so. I just wish I wasn't so sore, and I don't even know why I am. Well time to get out of bed and get dressed I'm sure he is waiting on me.

I step out onto the front porch to see what the loud engine purr was coming from. Of course, a four wheeler I should have known. Charles just smiles at me and gestures me to get on and hold on tight. He takes me through the woods behind the house along the river until we come to a very small and ancient looking bridge. This bridge looks so old, and it definitely doesn't look safe. But I just wrap my arms around his waist tighter as we ride over it without a problem. We ride on about 10 minutes after that until we come to a stop at an old graveyard.
"Wow, our first date and you bring me to a graveyard. Your not one of those creepy guys infatuated with dead things are you?" I ask him teasingly
"Well, if you wanted to get technical, being an immortal people already think you are dead." He says with a laugh, "but this isn't all we are here for. The best secrets are better left unrevealed to the world."
We walk through the hallowed ground to a large tomb. Charles walks through and disappears down a flight of stairs. I hesitantly follow, being that it's a little creepy being down here and all. He lights a torch on the side of the dark earth covered walls. To reveal a large white marble door, with a tiny lock and handle.
"I think this is your part now Jade." He says to me as he take s a step back
I know what to do from here. I instantly walk up to the door and slide the second key on my bracelet inside the tiny keyhole. Instantly the tiny underground hall is filled with light as the door is slowly pulled open. As my eyes begin to focus I realize what is all around me. The room I stepped into is fresh out of the new age. White walls with bright fluorescent lights, it looks like something you would see in a matrix movie.
One wall is completely filled top to bottom with ancient looking leather-bound books that start to get newer towards the end. A table in the center lets me sit and read an excerpt from one book.
