The rain fell steadily in sheets. It made raincoats the normal fashion in this small village. The crowd of people bustling in the townsquare kept obstructing the thin, lanky man whose face was hidden behind a hood. At his side walked another man, shorter, but a little bit bigger than the first.
"Those it rain like this always, forever?" The first man asked.
"Welcome to Amegakure," the second said, adjusting his big glasses, smiling lightly.
The first man, Orochimaru, stopped suddenly.
"We are here," he said." Pain's tower."
The second man, Kabuto, followed Orochimaru's gaze. They focused on the intricate piece of architecture placed at the geographical centre of the world. It was about 17-storey tall with lots of pipes and fittings all over it.
Orochimaru opened his palm and a snake glided out. It opened its mouth and swallowed the two men. It then slithered swiftly into the tower, evading all security measures.
Once inside, Orochimaru was regurgitated by the snake. Kabuto wanted to do the same but the snake kept its mouth shut.
"Aoba," Orochimaru said to the snake." Take Kabuto to our new base. And don't let him out."
Orochimaru watched as the snake slithered back out of the tower and then proceeded up the flight of stairs.
He opened a green scroll. In it was the blueprint of Pain's tower. Following directions he arrived at the last spot where Jiraiya the Toad Sage battled Six Paths of Pain. The place was a mess. Jiraiya must have fought with all his power and might. Jiraiya even managed to takedown 3 of the Six Paths. But he was killed. Gruesomely.
Though he didn't say it, or even express it, Orochimaru was impressed by Jiraiya's shinobi skills.
He walked over to the pond that connected from the tower to the main ocean far way. It was another architectural wonder. As Orochimaru bit his finger letting a drop of blood out, he wondered the number of years it must have taken to build Pain's tower. And the level of experience needed too.
Hitting his opened palm on the floor he uttered lightly:
"Kuchiyose: Eel-Chief!"
A dense amount of mist Rose and when it cleared Orochimaru was on the head of the most enormous eel that could ever exist. And it was not happy.
"Orochimaru is it only when you need a favour that you'd summon me?" Eel-Chief grumbled.
"Maybe," Orochimaru said." I need to get to the bottom of of the ocean to-"
"Get the Toad Sage's DNA," Eel-Chief completed the sentence." You are always after the best shinobi."
"That's how life is: we all strive for the best," Orochimaru said.
"Shut up and come down let me swallow you, we have a long journey ahead of us."
And for the first time Orochimaru obeyed - graciously.
