Shawn's POV
"For the tenth time, I'm sorry. It wasn't even that bad, I mean they probably have a picture of every corner of the room." Peter explained, and I was never mad at him; but I really needed to focus on the case, so it was easier to pretend like I was mad at him.
He was pacing around the the condo unit we were staying in. It was a pretty neat place that Camila had provided for us to stay in, although I would never admit it to her. I personally thanked her for spending so much money on us, but of course that was part of boosting her ego.
"Still, Pedro. It was embarrassing, and Rex already thought so lowly of me." I replied, while rereading the files and writing down a few notes of mine.
This case was really interesting so far. There were just holes everywhere I looked. I have a gut feeling that it was far more than just a shooting incident.
"Yeah. That Rex guy. What's up with him?" Peter said as he ate his sushi, letting out a loud yawn afterwards.
I've learned from reading newspapers that Rex and Garret were close friends, and it was not impossible since they worked together.
"He was Mr Cabello's close friend." I told Pedro, who was now plopped down on the couch, his long legs dangling over the edge.
He widened his eyes at me, looking at me as if I should know what he was thinking. Having spent half of my life with this guy, I did know what he was thinking.
"No." I told him and he groaned in annoyance.
"Oh come on! It's totally-"
"No. He did not kill his own best friend." I said and he rolled his eyes, mumbling something to himself. Considering the restless day that we've gone through, I bet he was almost falling asleep.
"Pedro, we're visiting the night club at nine pm. You better not fall asleep now." I reminded him, my eyes now focused on the picture of the bruises on the victim's neck.
"I don't know about you, but these don't look like hickeys to me." I said and turned the picture over so it was facing him.
"Shawn, let's be real here. You wouldn't know what a hickey looks like if it hit you in the face." He said, with a knowing smile in his face. I glared at him and dropped the photo down on the table.
"I've seen hickeys before, Pedro. I was not born yesterday." I said truthfully, but slightly being annoyed at his behavior. The problem with him is that he doesn't take anything seriously.
"Well, I have gotten hickeys before, unlike someone I know, and I can tell you that that is a hickey." He explained, and I decided to let it go, not wanting to argue any further.
"They're strangling marks." I said and he looked at me as if I was crazy.
"Whatever. We'll find out tonight." He said, and I'm glad that he didn't fight for his stance once more.
I stared at the clock, as if staring at it harder would make it tick faster. The door suddenly swung open, causing me to jump up from my seat.
"Holy shit." Peter cussed loudly as Camila entered the room. She had a spare key?
I tried to retrieve my shirt from the floor, but she already saw me. I gave her an annoyed look as she shamelessly stared at my torso. Everything this girl did, she did so shamelessly.
