(Please loop the song above.)

She stood atop the building smiling at the view before her. It was late and the sky was a near black. The stars littered the sky making it bright and sparkly compared to the dark and gloomy town below her. The moon was out and she could feel it's light bring her spirits up. She wore a thick coat due to the winter wind. It was chilling and biting; but she didn't particularly mind at this moment. Her dark silver hair whipped behind her exposing her features. She had a small face with big and enchanting blue eyes. A long nose and and thin rosy lips. The moon shined with all it's light on her making her look like a fallen Moon Goddess, especially with her unusual silver hair flicking about in the air. The moon's light gave her warmth and comfort, something she currently lacks.

She sat on the top of a building, looking above her and straight into the moon's surface. She had many dreams and aspirations that currently seems to be as far as the moon before her. She reached out trying to reach for something so close, yet so far. She smiled at the moon that conveyed all the happiness she had ever felt. All those laughs she had, all those times where she was free and away from all those judging eyes. Her eyes however, played a different story. They were grieved and disappointed. Her eyes were wide and glassy but it lacked the sparkle of love and enthusiasm. She was like a broken child; kicked and cast away by her parents. She looked absolutely heartbroken.

The two conflicting emotions on her face told anyone who saw, that this was a girl with a story to tell. It wasn't happy, nor was it tragic. After all she is only one flightless bird in a nest filled with birds. Be it flightless or not, she was only one of many. She was nothing special.

A nobody.

Looking down below her, the girl saw cars passing by and people walking, all trapped and absorbed in their own lives. She saw a man smoking just by the alleyway near the building she was on; looking distressed. There could be many things going on in his life too. He could be a divorced father loosing a court case for the rights to take custody of his kids, or he could have a relative or a close friend who was in the hospital, with a fatal injury or sickness.

There could be many things going on in a persons life. One can't just assume just because they are smiling, they are happy. One can't just assume that if they act bratty, they are spoiled. One would have to look behind those things. There is more than meets the eye. Maybe that person acts bratty because of the lack of love in the household? Making them seek for attention elsewhere. You can never know if you don't make the effort to know.

The young woman diverted her attention to the cloudless sky above and decided to lay on her back. She didn't mind that her expensive dress would get dirty- in fact; she welcomed it. It reminded her that her life isn't what it used to be. It let her become more grounded and she would never want to go back to being what she used to be. Who she used to be.

She gazed up at the sky appreciating the silence and the cold breeze. Smiling bitterly, she thought back to what she used to be; ignorant, rude, petty, bratty, snobbish, disrespectful, distasteful, and arrogant. There were many more unpleasant and insulting words to describe how she used to be not that long ago.

Ahh... What a fool she was back then.

Glancing at the opened briefcase carelessly thrown in the corner, she grounded herself. She knew she wasn't a good person. She knows her mistakes and she wasn't going to victimize herself. With all this new knowledge of herself, she steeled her eyes in determination. She was going to change for the better. For the sake of her happiness and well being. She knows it's not going to be easy, but she's willing to take on any challenge to become a better person for her own sake.

Her lips trembled when she thought of the horrible year she had experienced. She hugged her stomach desperate for comfort. She had lost almost everything- but none of it could ever prepare her for what had happened next. Clutching her stomach tightly she sobbed. The sound was heart breaking in the silent night. Her sobs pierced the air like a knife. It was heart wrenching and painful. It tugged at her heart like a knife being twisted and squeezed. It was almost unbearable! She regretted everything.

If only she weren't so stupid! If only she were careful enough... If only If only If only.

Those words echoed in her mind making her screams even more mournful. She gripped her hair in frustration and anger. Anger at herself for being so careless. She knew this could have been prevented... but it wasn't. And it was all her own fault.

She clutched her stomach in a protective manner and sat on her knees, crying until she had no more tears to cry, rocking back and forth. The pain was still there. The trauma was still there, and it will always lay deep in her veins. She had lost something irreplaceable- and that was her wake up call. She needed to change.

No longer was she that confident and stuck up snob. No longer was she that powerful heiress that could ruin others in a single word. Where was she? What happened to her?

What replaced that girl was a young woman with deep and sad eyes. She always carried a smile on her face and she always remained polite and respectful. Underneath that facade laid a young woman with deep emotional scars that would never be healed; hurting. Where had all that confidence gone? That fire, and will to carry on?

She now lay on the top of an abandoned building, grieving for something that happened years ago. She was in a new and foreign country, perfect for a new beginning. But can she really do it? She was ruined. She was only a shred of who she used to be. She didn't know what to do with herself. She will change to become a better person; for herself.

But was it really worth it?

She stared at the moon looking down at her, and silently thanked it for being there when everyone else turned their backs to her. She thanked it for being her only companion and support in her life. Whenever she was in doubt she'd just look up at the night sky and see it there, high in the sky silently cheering her on from above.

'Thank You'
