And So All Was Destroyed

The Empire had grown arrogant and bloated over their long reign of conquest and prosperity. They had conquered many of the other states of their world and had even expanded beyond to other worlds with the access to the Gates which had opened up to various other worlds which were ripe for the taking.

To them, they were the pinnacle of greatness. A shining example of what humanity was when they were so close to grasping onto god-hood. In a more merciful universe, this arrogance would have been corrected by another invading force that had advanced farther than they had and carried a humility with their power...

However, this was not a merciful universe.

When a new Gates had appeared, one that had not looked like any other, the Empire had gazed upon it with greedy eyes and a unquenchable hunger. The Gate had been massive compared to the other Gates that had come before. It also was coated in a layer of etherial metal with a shade of deep-sea blue that carried both the attributes of foreboding darkness and calming blue. There was no door with this one, rather it had a glowing veil of red and purple energy swirling together with mysterious arcs of energy leaping from the edges of the structure.

Those with the right minds and warnings from their gods had fled in fear, some even raving of the end. The Empire had paid no head and had instead sent their armies for another plunder of riches.

When the first soldiers had entered through the new world they felt their breath be stolen from their bodies. Choking and gasping for air, they had fallen over and had grasped the ground in a desperate attempt of their lives. This world was not for them, they soon realized.

It was a dead world.

One poor soldier had held his head up at a sound of feet contacting the dirt and sound of chirps and clicks. When his eyes had made contact with the new encounter he had froze in terror. This was a being with a shape that was too alien for him to truly describe or to understand. When his eyes had finally met with the creatures own he felt his body and mind explode with a unimaginable amount of pain. His brain had throbbed at what he felt, what he heard, what he had seen

Knowledge had poured into his head far quicker than he could interpret and far more than he could handle. The very secrets of the universe had screamed at him and had held is soul with a vice grip demanding payment. He could feel his very being tear itself apart and he screamed to the dead world as he had come to a final conclusion.

There would be no savior for them.

When the armies had not returned the Empire had sent more to enforce the invading force of their incompetency. When they had arrived they had not expected the survivors to hold their heads and scream like mad men. Screaming of monsters and the end of all. They were quickly put to the sword and the forces of the Empire and their vassals were mobilized.

Their actions were too late and their ignorance was far greater.

A figure of great proportions had exited the gate. A monstrous being with scaled skin thicker than even the greatest castle walls. Pale skin layered along with more oceanic colors and veiny structures littering the body. Claws massive enough to end even the greatest giants and dragons with a single swipe. It teeth laid bare for all to see and fear.

The monster had crushed many with a single step and the armies had ran in fear. This was a fight they could not even hope to win. Their lives were too small and pitiful to even compared to this beast of godly proportions.

The monster had held its head high to the heavens and had roared with a voice so terrifying and horrible that even the gods had heard its calls and had shuddered.

This would be the end of all things and everyone knew.
