The next morning The gang were already up before me and were getting breakfast ready. I decided to join them since there was nothing else to do. I didn't have my sister to hang with and I was too afraid to walk through the woods in case I saw "HIM". I grabbed a plate and got a hotdog off the foil we had over the fire.
After we ate breakfast we threw away our trash, and began our search for the mountain man. We started through the trees until we came to an opening. There was an open field covered in dandelions. We were about to set up a blanket and enjoy the view when we heard something. "THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!"
Loud obnoxious thumps coming from the trees. We all just stood there in shock and awe as we saw him emerge from within the woods. He saw us and let out a loud, ugly screech. We ran as fast as we could through the trees. We hid in this small patch of bushes hoping he wouldn't see us. We heard his growls drawing nearer. I started to panic, but Norman put his hand over my mouth to stop my heavy breathing from being too loud. The mountain man passed us and we thought it was safe to come out.
When we got out of our hiding place to see if the coast was clear, he came charging straight for us. He grabbed Tara and we could hear her bones being crushed between his fingers. We were in shock as we watched her scream in pain and as she took her last breath. He then did something we thought we'd never see him do. He ate her, whole.
We all bolted out of there as fast as we could. We didn't even look back. We ran in three different directions to stall him. I got halfway through the trees to get to the entrance when I heard Norman scream, but I didn't stop running. I ran all the way until I got out of the woods and back to the bay ridge apartments.
I waited there for what seemed like hours, it was actually fifteenth minutes, waiting for Jace to come out from the woods, but he never did. I ran all the way back home. When I got in the house, I ran up the stairs, jumped into my bed and tried to forget what happened, but it kept coming back. Ever since what happened to my friends that day, I never went back in those woods again.
