It's the last night of Midnight Red's first headlining tour. They've been playing small venues all over the US for 3 months and they finally reached New York. It may seem like a small tour but they hit every major city including all of the band members home towns. Last night they played up in Buffalo to Colton's town and tonight they'll be in New York City. Alex and Malery have been pretty dedicated fans of theirs since they were opening for The Wanted which to them seems like a lifetime ago. They obsessed over MNR since before they even had an album. One time they followed the band around Manhattan for 13 hours and had nothing to show for it. But they still remained as dedicated and in love with them as ever. But tonight their lives would change, possibly forever.

"Why won't you let me see the tickets?" Malery asked.

"I told you, it's a surprise. Do I have to get a dictionary and read you the definition of surprise?" Alex is always overly sassy and can sometimes get on Malery's nerves. But she didn't argue. Alex had bought these tickets for Malery's 21st birthday since she wasn’t a drinker, a concert was the perfect gift. Alex refused to let her see them and always diverted her questions about it. They knew they'd be going to this show no matter what had to be done but luckily Alex got a promotion at work and was able to get them great tickets to the show.

The train ride to Beacon Theatre seemed like the longest ride of Malery's life. She liked to plan things out accordingly and hated not knowing what was going on. Alex and her were alike that way so a part of Alex felt bad, but she couldn't ruin the best birthday present ever. She couldn't wait to see Malery's face when they finally got to their seats.

Walking into Beacon was surreal to them. The last time they'd been here was to see The Wanted and Alex got her moment with Nathan. It seems really stupid but he looked her in the eyes and it was one of the best things that could have happened to her. Now as they were walking in she knew that this night would possibly trump the last time. They had even better seats which seemed almost impossible but this time they'd be front and center. Alex led the way to the doors in the back that would lead them onto the floor. She handed the tickets to the security and he walked them to their seats.

"What? Wait, what?" Malery was fumbling for words and Alex was beaming.

"Happy Birthday!! We're in the front freaking row. Can you believe it? Am I not the most amazing best friend ever?" Malery was at a loss for words. They'd been to plenty of shows and been close but last time the tickets were so expensive and they were in the fifth row on the side. How could Alex afford this?

Alex could sense what was going through her mind right now and had to stop her.

"Stop thinking about it and just enjoy it!" Malery finally smiled and hugged her best friend. It was an amazing gift and a huge part of their friendship to go to concerts.

The opening act was someone they never heard of so they just danced around and enjoyed it. There was no pause between sets and MNR came out directly after the opening act. The first song they sang had a vigorous dance routine and the girls knew every move. They were dancing in sync with the band and caught the attention of some of the members. Some of the groupies around them were rolling their eyes and making faces at them but Alex definitely didn't give half a crap what they had to say. She would shut them down instantly if they dared say anything negative to her and her best friend. She’s pretty protective like that.

When Alex’s favorite song, Nothing Lasts Forever began, someone from crew brought a stool out to center stage. Alex smirked to herself and screamed with everyone else in the concert hall. One of the band members, Thomas hopped off the stage and hugged Alex. She hugged him back and fought back tears because no matter how composed she had to be, this was still her favorite band. She turned to Malery as Thomas took her hand and kissed it. Her reaction was one of pure awe and totally worth all of the stressful planning.
