Earth Year – 2375
The Battle of Cardassia
Captain Thomas Alexander looked at the main view-screen, the bridge of his ship,
the USS Phoenix was strangely quiet. He knew his people were doing their jobs but
there was none of the usual banter which his relaxed command style usually allowed.
And it was the view-screen which catalysed the ominous atmosphere aboard.
Thomas stared at what seemed like a thousand Star-ships, Federation, Klingon and
Romulan. All of them headed for Cardassia Prime. Where they would find victory...
or death.
The Excelsior-class USS Phoenix was leading a support wing of nine other ships, three powerful Akira-class Star-ships, three tough Steam-runner-class ships and three ageing Miranda-class vessels. The Type II Miranda-class ships had decades of proud
service behind them. What a shame it would be, thought Thomas That those years
might end today, courtesy of a Dominion disruptor bank.
Thomas stroked his neatly trimmed beard as he pondering his own mortality, his
thoughts were interrupted by his First Officer who was filling in at Ops. since the
death of Ensign Martin one week before...
“Captain, we have an incoming transmission from the Defiant, Captain Sisko is about to address the fleet.” Said Commander Edward Jackson.
“On screen please Number One, this is what we have been waiting for!”
Thomas and his crew listened to Captain Sisko's stirring words, words designed to

ships on the left side of the combined fleet, such as the Galaxy-class ships and
massive Klingon Negh'Var-class Battleships. As the Allied fleet approached the mass
of Dominion, Cardassian and Breen ships the Phoenix was hailed once more, this time
it was Captain Melissa Scott of the USS Atlantis. Her image appeared on the Main
Viewscreen, now in her thirties the attractive Earth-woman of African descent still
had a very youthful twinkle in her eye, she smiled warmly as she spoke.
“Captain Alexander! It has been too long!”
“Indeed it has.” Replied Thomas. “How can the Phoenix aid you and the
Atlantis today Captain?”
“Well, our sensors indicate that a large group of Jem'Hadar fighters are heading
our way, and we present a rather tempting target, I am sure it would be a matter of
prestige for them to bring down a Galaxy-class Star-ship today. Would you mind
