Saudade- “refers to the feeling of longing for something or someone that you love and which is lost.”
(Late morning of March 27th, 2014)
Sometimes in life, you get to pick and choose what hurts you, only by the choices you make in your past and how you move forward. Lacië King made the wrong choices.
Xavier Riddle (ironic name, for someone who really has no secrets or anything) waited. A man, who worked at a little cafe Xavier had never heard of, arrived at their home along with a wallet, but that was all Xavier could observe from the living room peep hole (or window as Andy told him). A little plaid wallet made of out one of Xavier’s old shirts, that unravelled after one too many washes in their mediocre washing machine. The wallet belonged to none other than Lacië King, who was expected to come home any second. But, the fact that her wallet beat her there was a little unsettling. Wallets can’t walk or talk. How did this man get it and why is he here?
Breaking the nonsense argument he was having with the werewolf girl Andy, he flew across the hardwood floors and burst through the front door. “Who’re you?” He nearly shouted at the boy, scaring the poor cashier out of his skin. “And why do you have Lacië’s wallet?!” He placed his hands on his hips, striding closer and closer to the boy until they were inches apart.
“Uhh, I’m Colin, sir! Lacië left this at the cafe I work at and I thought bringing it here would be a good idea....” The boy winced and took a step back. “Please don’t hurt me... I just wanted to make sure she got back alright..”
Xavier sneered and grabbed at Colin's pale blue t-shirt. “Why do you care, Colin? Why is her well being any of your concern?”
“Well,” Colin started, scratching the back of his head and letting his face flush. “Uhh, well you see...”
“Spit it out!” Xavier exclaimed, baring his fangs at the boy. “Why is she any of your concern?!”
The little cashier took a deep breath and looked the vampire right in the eye. “Because... she was hurt the last time I saw her. There was blood soaked into her jacket... and she was wearing several layers! I got worried... then I saw her wallet was left on the counter and her ID left her location.” Colin told Xavier quite proudly. “Also, I heard there was a hit and run in the area recently!” He added animatedly, causing the vampire in front of him roll his eyes and let go of the boy’s shirt.
“Whatever, I got the point. You mortals and your walls. They come crashing down when an attractive person approaches you aggressively. And no, I’m not going to spontaneously make-out with you.. Jeez, don’t even ask. It’s just so cliché.” Xavier winked one of his blue eyes at Colin and smiled. “Why can’t you humans switch it up a little?” He swiftly turned away from a very confused Colin to only run back into the house.
Colin stood there in the lawn in utter confusion and slight arousal. “But don’t you want her wallet back?” He called after the flirtatious vampire.
“No, hold onto it. You’re coming with us anyway, so you can give it to her yourself.” Andy called out from inside the house, making Colin’s level of cluelessness grow to 10 or some other mildly high level.
“Wait...” Colin tried to analyze the situation, but since when did any of this situation make any sense? “What?”
Xavier appeared behind him, resting his arm on the cashier’s head. “She doesn’t like when we straight up follow her places. She doesn’t care about our intentions.” He let out a sad sigh, sticking out his full lower lip. “But you,” He messed up Colin’s muddy brown hair. “your reasons are cute. The whole ‘I just wanted to make sure that you’re okay’ gimmick. It makes people melt. You’ve just got to flash her those cute little brown eyes and a little smile. You might even get a date out of it, if it works.”
