"Care to Take the Fall?"

Alright, so I was reading a fanfic where the main characters were ice skating in a competition and after an awkward conversation, one of them asked the other if they would care to take the fall (in order to stop skating because neither wanted to do it). The line inspired me to write this short thing.

------
Setting: Two people are fighting against their enemies (think like.. a battle or something) where they are at a higher point to have an advantage. They are isolated from their group, and slowly but surely losing the upper hand, and though things don't seem too bleak, it could potentially be grim if they don't keep working together.

Protag- "I'm not sure how much longer we can keep at this. We are outnumbered, and I know for a fact that they won't stop coming anytime soon.  We need to get to the others, or we will both go down."

The other, slowing down in their fighting, looks at the protaonist with an unfamiliar gleam in their eye. A malicious smirk rises onto their face, suddenly looking extremely villainous.

  "Care to take the fall?"

The protag looks at them, confusion gracing their features as they struggle to keep fighting in order to pick up the slack of their companion. Suddenly, their team member knocks them off balance, causing them to slip and fumble from the ledge that led down the incline. Fear sparks across the protagonist's face as they flail, attempting to stop them from the plummet. No words were spoken, but the cry of "why would you do this" was clearly spoken and echoing between the two them. The protag caught their final glimpse of their former friend's unkindly face and a small wave before they went tumbling down the incline, into the brunt of their adversaries' force.

Just a short scene, but I felt really inspired to make it. It is one of my better written skits in my opinion. Anyways, have a good day dudes!
