Being the baby girl of the family is tiring. It's like you're constantly under a microscope, simply because I am the youngest girl. I can't but walk on the straight and narrow to survive the wrath of my mom and dad. I was always taught to act like a woman at all times. Behave. Speak proper. Whenever I "step out of line", I am always punished. My big sister Sanay never got treated like this.
It's like I can't do anything without being ridiculed or misunderstood.
Now that I'm 22, I feel like I should be able my life the way that I desire.
Regardless of what my parents, friends, siblings and anyone else has to say. I'm tired of living for other people, I want to live for me for once.
"You good?" Julien asked me as he sat in the driver's seat.
I looked at him and smiled.
"Yeah baby, I'm okay. I was just thinking." I replied as I turned my attention back to the burrito bowl sitting on my lap.
"What you thinking about?" he asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"The usual shit."I shrugged.
"Baby, stop worrying about your parents. I'm not telling you to start wilding out and shit. But I just want you to live your life to the fullest and do what makes you happy. You know I'm rocking with whatever you rocking with." he said, smiling at me.
"Thank you Jue, I love you." I smiled as I kissed his lips.
"I love you too Juice." he laughed.
"You know I don't like that damn name." I commented while getting a forkful of my burrito bowl.
Julien and I went to Chipotle and got food before we decided to come to the park; sitting in the car, talking and watching the sun set.
"You know how you got that name." he smirked.
I playfully smacked his arm and looking at the sun as it was setting.
"Baby, how long are you going to wait before you tell your parents?" Julien asked as he turned the radio down as Every special way by H.E.R. played.
"I will turn them soon Jue." I sighed and checked the time on my phone.
"You keep saying soon time after time." he shook his head.
"I know Jue, I know. I'll get around to it." I said, ending the conversation.
