Most of the time, just explaining it isn't enough, so I'll pick some of the times Diavolo erases time in JoJo Part 5 and use those cases to explain it further.

1. Bruno and the Mystery Pillar.

Y'all JoJo fans out there must remember that iconic moment when Bruno fights against the boss, uses his stand to destroy the pillar in front of him and expecting there to be Diavolo, but only sees that he's on the other side of it?

Yeah, that moment.

Diavolo said that he "Let Bruno get a glimpse of his ability as a parting gift" the Bruno on the other side of the pillar is just what Diavolo meant by "A glimpse into his ability".

He just lets Bruno see a frame of King Crimson's Time Erasure, that frame being Bruno after he had gone around the pillar to inspect it.

I'm going to explain it using a timeline.

> Bruno begins punching the pillar.
> For a split second, we can see Diavolo at the other side, but...

> King Crimson begins it's Erased Time.

> Within erased time, Diavolo is invisible, therefore the Erased Time Bruno sees that there is actually no one at the other side of the pillar.
> "I know that there was something on the other side of that pillar" I would imagine Bruno thinking to himself.
> Erased Time Bruno goes around the pillar to inspect it closer.
> All the while this was happening, Diavolo had moved behind Bruno for the fatal punch through the gut.

>King Crimson's Erased Time ends.

> Since the "Moving to the other side of the pillar" was done by Erased Time Bruno, the normal Bruno had forgotten the fact that he had done so.
> Diavolo had let Bruno get a glimpse into his ability, therefore the normal Bruno can see the last frame of the Erased Time Bruno being on the other side of the pillar.
> Following through on the prediction, the normal Bruno begins to fade into the Erased Time Bruno's position.

...or at least, that's what I think had happened during the fight, this is Araki we're talking about after all.

2. Metallica and Aerosmith.

So at the end of the King Crimson vs Metallica fight, Aerosmith joins in to send a few bullets into both Diavolo and Risotto's body.

It seems that Diavolo had no way to dodge it, but...

Now this is just a case of inaccurate translation

King Crimson didn't "Erase" the process, in reality he had just entered Erased Time, where he is invulnerable to attacks.

Even in the anime it showed the bullets going straight through KC's body, it didn't show the bullets just straight up teleporting in front of him.
