Light taps drummed on the desk, her head rested against the palm of her hand pushing up her cheek. [f/n] groaned— working the 8 am shift was the worst but she needed the hours. Luckily, since the majority of people scheduled tutoring in [field of study] in the afternoon (omitting the few walk-ins of panicked students trying to get last minute homework help), allowing for her to get a head start on her school work.

"Hmm," [f/n] let out a soft sigh, eyes drifting to her phone. Vibrating against the table, her ringtone echoed in the empty room. It wasn't often she got a call, apart from her mom and the occasional call from her boss asking if she could take over a shift. Reaching for it, the [h/c] girl stared at the screen.

Hinata Ema

Her heart fluttered. It had been months since their last chat, granted, she was also to blame for the lack of communication. Sliding the phone open, she rested the phone against her cheek and shoulder. She hesitantly opened her mouth to speak, managing a soft, "hello?"

"[f/n]? Hello," Ema exclaimed, almost in shock that she answered, "I know you're busy, but I was wondering if you wanted to meet up sometime?"

"Of course," [f/n] blinked, now her turn to be surprised by Ema's sudden request. She truly missed her childhood friend, but things had just become so busy for both of them. [f/n]'s brow furrowed, "don't you have class today?"

"Ah, yes. I'm walking there now. When does your first class start," Ema asked.

"Uhmm..." the [h/c] reached for her planner, "10:30 am. I work at the tutoring center for another two hours. Do you think we could meet this Saturday? Lunch at the usual café, say around 11?"

"Yes, that would be amazing. See you, then?"

"Mhm, it'll be nice to see you. Have a nice day at school."

[f/n] hung up the phone and stared at her mug. Chewing on her lip, she groaned in frustration and slammed her head onto the table. At least she had a day to clear her schedule and hopefully get the last little work she needed to be done before meeting with Ema. [f/n] couldn't wait to see her but with the end of the school and various problems that arose with that, she couldn't spare any moment. However, she also knew friendships required effort and Ema was worth the effort— besides it seemed they both were sacrificing time.

"Uhm, hello." A light tap on the door caused the girl to freeze, "I have a question and was wondering if you could help... this is the [subject] tutoring center, right."

Jolting up and attempting to fix her hair with her fingers [f/n] nodded. "Yes it is, come take a seat," [f/n] babbled, gathering up her papers. As the new-comer took a seat next to her, [f/n] did the best to push her meeting with Ema out of her mind. Softly speaking, the young women pulled the stranger's laptop closer, "what do you need help with?"

So these prologue chapters are going to be much shorter than when I get into the plot. This is to just set up the start of the plot and I want to get as much out before I get crazy busy. I only have like 2-3 more for prologue too so don't worry.
