THE FIST SHRINE

There she was a corpse in between the forest surrounded only by bones of the ones who predeceased, from a distance hyenas could be heard laughing and wild dogs barking for they were used to eating an easy meal from this place.her mouth was wide agape and her face looking up ,she was chunked here by her community because they thought she was dead but they had kept her body with them for a whole day because she wasn't sick and she showed no sign of weakness , the second day thought that her body would begin to decompose so the elders had their people clean her body and smear it with sandalwood oil,it was a time of grief and mourning to the whole community but the news struck masaku her lover more than lightening that hit the same place twice .masaku had even planed to marry her but she had no parents to whom he can pay dowry to . her origins was a mystery to everyone they all had their different stories as to where she came from.no one would even dare ask her because of the good she had done in the community for the past ninety five years and the funny thing is she was still a young girl and hadn't aged a day since she stepped foot in the community. rumors had it that she was sent from the ancestral realm to lead the community others said she was evil for the powers she possessed or she was possessed by a legion .

Her story was famous across the land and their warriors were feared by other communities because she was clairvoyant ,she could heal any sickness brought before her and they never lost a man in any raid plus the community had the best architects in the whole land. they made sophisticated weapon for their warriors while other communities used spears,shield and bow and arrows to fight but that doesn't mean they couldn't put up a good fight.everyone thought she was dead.what could kill a person who can see the future? that was the question on everyone's mind, but her spirit was in another realm she had been summoned by the good ancestors ,she was shown the impending danger and she was told to prepare for it ,she saw the whole ordeal and the one planning all that was in that realm his name was koitalel arap samoei ,a member of the castaway community and in this ralm he had managed to convince all the castaway ancestors to rally behind him as they go back to the land of the living and live the life that was taken from them as they were chased away from the community for being different from the others .syokimau was courageous and she feared no one and that made her go straight to koitalel's face and asked him politely to call off his plans .

Koitalel looked deep in her eyes and saw that the villagers were still crying and it was the second day and began to laugh hysterically and told her "they have no idea what's coming "as the others began to laugh as well "with you stuck in this realm they'll have no one to warn them so they wont be prepared and even if they are prepared they don't stand a chance against us"continued koitalel for he also thought that she was dead . in that realm there were different places in which the ancestors never bothered to explore because it was forbidden by the gate keepers ,but syokimau decided to cross oblivious of the concequenses that will befall her. the boundary was made of magnetic field that could not allow any spirit to pass through but to their amazement she went through with nothing holding her back which left koitalel and other ancestors jaw dropping.she never came out of there and on the third day she found herself chucked in the forest as her body was guarded by five hyenas that were huge and could easily kill a lion with one strike. 
     All the thunder and heavy rainfall had nothing to do with her coming from the realm of the ancestors.her body was weak in some ways.she tried elevating herself and that made the hyena move back, she also came down hard since she couldn't even elevate herself let alone teleport back to the community ,she had no other choice but to walk all the way with the rain falling on her bald head that she shaves from time. she stepped on grass that grew under the big forest while her feet got cold from the morning dew.this was her first time out of the community for the ninety five years she has been there.they had no reason of going out of the community boundaries since they had everything inside and what they needed and don't have was brought by the central community butter traders.she had forgotten how beautifully breathtaking the land was outside the boundaries was ,the trees grew tall food was all round the forest ,"in this rainy season one would survive out here alone with only the animals to fear" she said to herself as she was getting close to the community.
   In the spun of those three days, the villagers had cried enough tears to make a rainfall but all their jeers turned to cheers the minutes she walked through the community gates .minutes after her arrival songs had already been composed in her praise and how great she is that even death couldn't hold her .she went straight to her hut and immediately the news landed in masaku's ears he ran fast to her hut and couldn't help but hold her and began to explain to her how he spent the second day weeping and crying to the ancestors to bring her back . he tried to kiss her but she pushed him away for she had seen him perish in the coming war and she didn't like it. Her  plan was to stop anyone from dying but this was a ploy to hide the truth. She told him to summon the shrine keepers from all the communities but before he could leave she recalled that the castaways had been released and could kill all the warriors if they seperated.
   so she came up with another plan of speaking with the shrine keepers across the land telepathically, by that i mean in their sleep.that meant she had to wait for the night and asked Masaku to stop sending the warriors out to the other communities.instead Syokimau told Masaku to prepare for the north eastern community were coming to raid since her death spread out to other communities and they wanted to take their own back.for the ninetty five years that Syokimau has been in the community she has lead nothing less than a thousand successful raids across the but of course she never took part in the raids all she did was guide the warriors and told them whether they will win or not. it did take long for the north eastern community got to the vicinity of the eastern community the journey took one day to get here and they had traveled by donkeys and camels.they had no idea that syokimau had come back from the dead ,much to their shock they expected to see the warriors ready for a fight but from where they were hiding plotting how to  conduct the raid successfully they constantly heard the eastern community celebrating and the aroma of different types of food which made some of them hungry and confused.they had about three hundred men and seven hundred young men who had never seen a battle only heard in the stories told at night by their grand parents. this community had no warriors like others communities they were only heardsmen and had a large flock to look after but since syokimau came the numbers has been depreciating gradually.they didn't expect it to be easy and that's why they chose the morning hours for they know that at night they might lose their men for nothing and won't go back with even a single sheep because none of them was familiar with the community's traps.
   After all the planing they decided to use the front entrance so as to strike fear to the community,  the eastern community was sorrounded by forest and a plain field before the entrance a few kilometres away. so the warriors could see someone approaching and had enough time to prepare before they get to the community gate.the boundaries of the community was made huge sisal plantation and trees that one could easily go through if they wanted but no one was brave enough to do that  for no one knew what awaited on the other side. the north eastern men were closing in and they were surprised because the warriors saw them and continued with their preparations this was more confusing for the young men who came with.they all gathered and made a strong formation in front of the gate but the eastern community were acting as if they were not under attack and continued smoking meat and preparing other foods.what the raiders saw made them ran to the forest and fathers forgot their sons running.syiokimau had come to welcome them to a feast which she had asked the community to prepare in their honour but the young men were left standing there not knowing what to do but one thing they were sure of is that they needed for for they were famished. syiokimau came close to them and saw how they were trembling and asked the young men to join them in the feast as their older men watched from a distance what will happen to the young men ,they assumed the worse thinking that they will all be killed but what shocked  them  even more is when masaku came out of the gate with one side of a goat roasted and gave it to the young men to eat and to show them that its not poisoned he took a bite himself,chewed snd swallowed. seeing this the boys asked for more that would be enough for them all and they were asked to come inside the community's gates.the young men took a leap of faith and all went in.
      The older men thought of what they will say to their women back in their community that the young men had all perished and none of them was injured.so they decided to all go and beg for their children's lifes and offer livestock in return but when they got close to the gate they saw their children eating together with the others and someone was there to welcome them with a huge chink of meat and that was none other than the guy who has raided them many times than any other captain ever in their history. the men were also famished and gave in to their hunger and joined the rest in the feast at around twelve noon syokiamau sermons the elders of  the north eastern community and explains to them what just happened and what will happen if they don't come together.she asked them to go back to their community and bring back the women and anything else they could carry and gave them two warriors to protect them along the way ,she even told them not to use the road that they used to get there and gave them a different root.
    They were to pass through the forest where the corpses were chunked, there dwelt huge wild animals that were used to eating human flesh or corpse like the hyenas that guarded syokimau's body from other animals. the forest was dark even though it was midday due to the canopy. north Eastern men were scared and couldn't help to show it in their faces, up to that moment they still think it's a trap. the whirling wind came with wierd sounds that echoed as if they were in s ditch or a galley. as they went on their way for some few hours spots of light could be seen and  it was spectacular, if they had cameras most would use the images as display pictures. as they all marvelled on the beauty the five hyenas came from all sides ready for dinner of human flesh, they have been following them for a distance and couldn't cause intervention while they were on the move because if the run away the hyenas might go for another day without food.
    The detour made it easy for the hyaena to attack and kill as many as possible so and to stash some for later.but this time the food was under protection of the two warriors, of course the hyaenas saw them as food because they had not transformed into majestic beings. hyaenas began to laugh as the men ran all directions in the name of safety. a lad who couldn't make a decision on which side to run to stood there, one hyaena saw an easy target and charged towards the kid. the  warriors were already on their knees talking to ancestors to grant them strength to save these men. before they could open their eyes one warrior was struck with the hyaena, he broke almost five full grown trees before falling down.
