**********
i walked through the rusty iron gates and soon found the front door. the paint on the door was thick, grey and scrathed. the knocker on the door was detailed and smart but at the same time rather intimidating. the knocker was in the shape of a lion's head, glaring eyes stared at me from the door. i slowly picked up my leather gloved hand and shook the knocker back and forth a few times. no one came for quite a while, and i stood there, freezing in my leather gloves, cream drench coat along with my thick, tall leather boots. my hand once more reached up to clutch the knocker; but as soon as i tried, the hinges on the side creaked and a crack of light flowed in from the doorway. as quick as a flash, an eye appeared at the side and glanced at me, almost afraid.
''mrs burns?'' i asked, feeling embaressed by my quivering. it was cold though, and surely she would understand my shivering.
''who is that?'' a soft and quiet voice asked.
''um...i am miss reed. i work for the daily chronicle, you should be expecting me.'' as i said this i dug my hand into my pocket and checked the adress written on the cinkled piece of paper once more. it deffenitly read '138 queen's way'.
the door opened and gave out a bit more of a squel from the hinges. an old, skinny lady in old half moon glasses and a black floral dress stood there, looming over me. she was frowning an unpleasant frown at me, but as soon as her eyes met mine, the frown turned into a tight yet fiendly smile.
''ahh..yes yes we are expecting you my dear miss reed, do come in, you almost look blue with cold!''this was nice of her, considering my position in the cold.
i walked in, trailing me behind me some snowy footprints. i wiped my feet against the brown doormat and slid into the narrow corridor in which mrs burns was standing, waiting for me. i oggled the corridor before me, the candlelight giving out a warm and comforting glow.
sooo... how do you like it so far????? i'm not sure how i'm gonna continue, but please comment! :) :) :D :D

''would you like to see your room now miss reed? it's late and i'm sure you're very tired.''
''yes, thank you mrs burns you have been very helpful''
she began to move swiftly away up a norrow and winding staircase, and being obedient, i followed her. she lead me through various doors and corridors. the building was larger than i thought. at last, we came to a door that was painted a nice duck egg blue and a brass number plate on the door which read '102' and this was my room.
''thank you ever so much mrs-'' i was cut off. i turned around me and mrs burns had already gone downstairs. i walked in and looked around. it was a pretty space, with gorgous furniture and an old oak wardrobe with an old rusty key. i sat at the desk and saw the pretty lace cover for it. i sat on the bed and the covers were linen and the pillows were silk. i really liked my room. i got all my luggage and unpacked my night gown and got into bed. i shut my eyes and felt the warm silk pillow along my cheeks and the gentle linen covers over my body. i ws alone; i was peaceful.

i awaoke slowly and forced my eyelids open. the sunlight trickled in through the cracks from the curtains. my room looked beautiful and i immediatly got up to open the curtains and get dressed. i sprung to my feet, cleaned my teeth, applied my perfume and all of a sudden i smelt like an angel. i chose the nicest dress in my trunk and wore it. i took my shawl and put on my boots. i searched through my bags and finally found my lilac bonnet. it went perfectly with my dress! i fixed my hair and staraitened my bonnet, and went downstairs to breakfast. i walked down stairs and corridors and through doors, until i finally got to the dining room where breakfast was layed. there obviously weren't many guests, in fact, the only ones sat at the table was old mrs burns, an old man whom was having a very deep conversatin with mrs burns, and three other guests. layed on the table was a humongous plate of scrambled eggs, a stack of perfect looking bacon and some little pots various sauces. i ate and ate until i was satisfied, and when i was, i went back up to my room and collected my purse and parasol, just in case.

as soon as i was out in the streets, i noticed the odd things immedietly. people where buzzing around at only nine o'clock in the morning. i looked at my watch and stared at the date circuled. of course! today was her majesy, queen victoria's golden jubilee! how could i forget? stood on the doorstep, waiting for a cab to drive past, and not long after one came. i climbed in and asked the driver to take me to hyde park.
''goin' to the jubilee ma'am?'' said the driver. he had long brown wavy hair and was quite young, only 19 or 20. he had a top hat and a suit. it was made quite obvious that he was made to wear this suit and it was not his intention to wear it.
''it's a grand day today ma'am. yer not from 'ere are ya ma'am?'' he said, roughly and sharply.
''no, h-how can you tell?'' i asked, nervous. how could he tell? was it obvious?
''ahh....us londoners have a way ma'am.'' i felt the conversation was going nowhere so i left it that.

the cab drver was right! there were red ribbons and gold and silver banners. i had never seen something so....fancy.
