Intro

The smell of gunpowder and blood was new to Sophia, the fear overtaking her, she couldn't hear a thing. Holding her rifle at hand tight and frozen, she could not move.

"So-hia...So-ia...Sophia snap out of it!" Said Mia "Start firing back, British soldiers are advancing!"

Sophia was back in the real world she picked up her rifle, pressing the stock against her shoulder, looking down the scope and didn't see any enemy's she only saw bullets flying in the air and she could hear gunfire all around her. Without thinking she fired her rifle and she could see an enemy soldier running to get behind cover, again without thinking Sophia fired her rifle, and the next thing she sees is blood spilling out of the soldier she just fired at.

'Did I just kill that man?!' Said Sophia in her head.

She didn't feel the same, it felt like a dark hole was growing inside her, Sophia felt like throwing up, but she couldn't, there we more enemy soldiers heading her way, so she fired and fired again and again so she couldn't suffer the same fate that soldier suffered.

Chapter One

Just another day of work for Sophia waking up, brushing her teeth, brushing her hair, walking downstairs to make breakfast for herself and her father and brother.

"Well look who's up early."

Said a voice coming from behind Sophia, she turns around and sees her father with a cup of tea.

"Morning papa, how did you sleep?"

"I actually slept pretty well last night and lucky for me I don't have to work Sundays. Oh, before I forget could you get the newspaper, I want to see what's new today, I would go, but my body is sore from yesterday and feel like I could collapse if I walk."

"Sure, thing papa, and while I get your newspaper could you finish cooking breakfast."

"Umm..."

"Thanks, papa you're the best, love you!" Said Sophia with so much enthusiasm.

" I'll be back in a bit." As she said walking out the front door. While walking to the mailbox which was a little way out from the house passed the driveway. Once Sophia arrived at the mailbox, she opened the mailbox and began looking through the mail. Not much just some letters from family hoping everyone was alright. It wasn't until she looked at the newspaper that she noticed something. It said, On June 28th, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was shot to death with his wife by the Bosnian Serbia nationalist Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. As a result, Austria Hungary has declared war against Serbia today on July 28th, 1914 and now Germany is asked to join and has no choice because of the treaty they signed with Serbia.

"Oh my God." Said Sophia in shock Sophia stood in the middle of the driveway for a minute and began to recollect her thoughts and walk back home. She walked through the front door and saw her father sitting at the table just finishing his breakfast

"I can't believe your brother is still asleep maybe we should...go...wake...him, are you ok?"

Sophia grabbed the newspaper and showed it to her father he began reading the paper and his eyes began widening. "Papa?" A silent moment passed by and the room was quiet. After that silence, Sophia could see her father about to say something.

"Scheisse were basically forced into this war why is Germany being forced into this we don't want to fight Austria's battles."
