Everything was spinning so fast. The sounds of shots were gone, earpiece went dead silent and exuberating joy spread all through his body. "I am free. I am finally free." he thought and tears swelled up in his eyes. "Freeeeedom!" he would shout if his mouth wasn't covered with breathing piece, one of his own contraptions.
Despite being wickedly good with technology his dream was to see the ground, the earth, the trees, the sea. All the things he read and listened about in books, in classes... Things he dreamed about."Master Beli, follow me please." said a stern voice, coming from a grey figure, matching it perfectly.
"Of course, Iseki-sensei," replied Beli with curiosity dripping out of him. "Where are we going, Professor?"
Professor Iseki turned his head aside, without stopping and eyed the boy genius, who just solved the most pressing problem of Gravity B City, the water collection unit's disability to purify water. With 20 top scientists working on the project for 2 years and receiving donations from neighboring cities, they finally figured out it was not a hardware problem or the energy problem, it was a programming issue. And they put the problem for extra homework and this little guy solved it in a week. "In a week," he repeated to himself mentally.
"We are going to the Farm, Master Beli," he said after a long silence. The moment he saw the greens at the Farm, was the moment he wanted to walk the Planet. Tir'nah'gal it was called. The ground under the floating cities. The forbidden land. Poisoned land. Poisoned by their past mistakes.
These thoughts rooted in his mind as he was free-falling. The shield around the Gravity B was still there to cross, but with his skills and his help at improving it... It was easy for him to open it up for him to fly through. Using his boosters while they worked, he adjusted his path flying towards his final goal. After that, nobody can stop him. But before that, he knew they will try. The goggles on his head provided him a scan of the surroundings and he noticed a couple of dozen security drones, dozen from left and dozen from the right and he was flying right towards them. If they catch him, he's gone. His mind would be put under heavy psychotics and used to perform mechanic tasks at the "Rehabilitation Center", as they kindly call prison. More like Brainwashing Center.
But, he came prepared. "Sara, launch defense sequence and activate suit electromagnetic aim disturbance," he said to his favorite AI.
"Defense sequence activated. EM Aim disturbance activated. Systems online. Evasion success calculated to 100%." said a bit stiff but gentle female voice. "Thanks, Sara."
"Warning. You are in violation of safety code 1.2. Please remain steady." drone speakers resonated with the automatic voice. "In case of resistance, we are permitted to use force." they finished and Beli took one second to adjust his goggles and closed his limbs towards his body to go into headfirst free-fall.
"Engaging sleep laser." said the automatic voice."Here we go," Beli said to himself hoping that he didn't make any mistakes programming this. Shots fired, red beams of light flew toward him and past him.
His falling undisturbed, he reached the hole in city shield and there it was:
Freedom!
