"Walk'in Down 29th and park. I saw you in another's arms"
The cold spread across Fareehas face. She inhaled a breath and let the cold sit in her lungs. She was too use to Egyptian heat, not the cold weather of Switzerland. She was walking towards the nearby coffee shop. As soon as she crossed the street something interesting caught her eye. Across the street in the park was non other than Angela. Her Angela. The stunning blonde locks, the soft porcelain skin, the ocean blue eyes. Only Angelas eyes were staring into hazel eyes. Fareeha tried to look around and get a view of the man she was with. They were now hugging under the sun in the cold park. Ice covered most of the surroundings. Fareeha moved quickly seeing as she was standing still on the crosswalk. Fareeha quickly apologized and went to get a different angle.
"Only months we've been apart. You look happier you do"
Fareeha stared into angelas eyes. They were brighter, one would say even happier. Perhaps it was fareehas bitterness, but even she had to admit Angela looked happy. Fareeha reminded seeing the look in her eyes when Fareeha would surprise her with dinner or a bath after work. The man seemed to hold her hand and carefully guide her to a cold seat on the park bench. They seemed very close. It made Fareeha frown. She then decided it would be better if she just walked away. So she did. She turned the other way and began to walk.
"Saw you walk inside a bar, he said something to make you laugh. I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours, you look happier you do"
Later on in the day, Fareeha decided the bar sounded great. Getting alcohol down her throat would really help with her problems. The sunken ship is what it was called. It was fareehas favorite hangout, even Angela knew this. Fareeha walked quickly to the entrance. The warm blast of heat from the bar felt nice, felt a little like home. She took off her scarf and began to shed the layers of coats. Suddenly her movement was stopped. There was those damn ocean blue eyes again. That man was here as well, except she could see him more clearly. He had jet black hair, with a simple gel up design. Those brown and green eyes. They seemed sharp and very to the point. She could see how he would tell and joke and Angela would laugh. That sweet laughter that made fareehas insides cry and melt all at the same time. Fareeha saw the size of her smile. It was bigger then she had ever remembered.
"Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you"
Fareeha remembered the fight. It always hurt to think about it. The screams, the yelling, the broken bottles on the floor. The wine glasses were set, the table was set perfectly. But the broken glass was too much. The tears that fell down her and angelas face. The neighbors came over afterward to try and help but Fareeha pushed them aside. Angela had left, and she knew it was all her fault. The tears burned the back of her throat, along with the alcohol that burned it even more.
"Ain't nobody love you like I do"
Fareeha remembered angelas soft skin. Her tender hands that roamed up and down her back. Her voice was so gentle and it kept Fareeha grounded. Fareeha would wake up several nights, shaking with memories. The memories of the war. The memories of her mother. The gunfire. The men that were sacrificed. The men that were killed. It was all too much for Fareeha, it would hurt too much in too little of time. Angela would be there to help her, she would hold her and speak meaningless words to ground her. Sometimes Angela would suggest therapy to which Fareeha would immidently scream that she was fine.
"Cause baby you look happier you do. I knew one day you'd fall for someone knew. And until then I smile and hide the truth. But I know I was happier with you"
The pain in Fareehas face was written as plain as day. Fareeha quickly redressed and walked outside. The cold stung but it was better then being in the bar with Angela. Fareeha felt a tear drop her face. Damn it, she was too emotional. She wiped her tear and continued to walk towards her apartment. She passed several people on her route. Her phone buzzed several times. She made it to her apartment, barely. The tears started as she crumbled down to the floor.
"Sat on the corner of the room, everything's reminding me of you. Nursen an empty bottle, I'm telling myself your happier, aren't you"
She managed to crawl to the side of the room where her alcohol cubbard was. The burn down her throat calmed her. The tears, she forgot about, are still crawling down her face. The alcohol in her hand grew lighter and lighter, til eventually she grabbed another bottle and continued to drink.
"Baby you look happier you do, I knew one day you'd fall for someone knew, but if he breaks your heart like lovers do, just know that I'll be waiting here for you"
Fareeha looked outside her window. The stars lit the sky and she held a picture of her and Angela in her hands. The picture was cracked due to when she was angry after the fight. Fareeha noticed the crack right down the center, as if saying it was broken, except it didnt touch the edge of the frame. Meaning the crack was not completely all the way down. Fareeha gripped the frame as she looked up in the stars. She would wait years if it meant she had another chance with Angela. And that's exactly what she plans to do.
