She came back into school and walked down the steps. Lila was so nervous! She went down and stood on the sidelines and tried to avoid any of the Stricks's gazes. Suddenly she felt a hand slip into hers and whisk her onto the dance floor. She was so surprised her body just started dancing, but when she looked up into the face of the person she was dancing with she was shocked! She was dancing with William Larding!! He said," Sorry for just grabbing you, but I think you would have said no if I had actually asked you." Lila replied," No, I think I would have said yes!" William replied," I'm sure." They danced the rest of the night. Lila was so happy to dance all night long, but suddenly she realized that it was 10:55! She had to go! She said sorry to William and ran! She tore down the school steps and drove home to go and change. She faintly her behind her, "Wait, I didn't catch your name." It took her 30 minutes to get changed and back to school. By the time she got back to school, it was nearly midnight! She hurried to locker number 290, Lauren's locker, and opened it up. It was a mess, but Lila had dealt with worse than this before. She was done it 25 minutes she was about to go when she realized she lost her jacket. That was the jacket her grandmother and bought for her a week before she died. She had to find it! Still, she went back home and slept. Since Prom was on a Friday night she had all weekend to fret about school on Monday and worry about where her jacket was. On Monday all the talk was about the mysterious girl that danced with William almost all night long. When she read the school newspaper that was the front page, everything was about her, but it wasn't about her. Everyone wanted to find out who she was. Finally, William came around and asked everyone to try on this jacket. Some girls said oh yes this is mine, but William knew they were not the real girl. Finally, he came around to Lila and he knew as soon as he saw her she was the mysterious girl.
