(Emily's P.O.V.)
The flashing lights of hounding paparazzi was something I'd slightly become accustomed to. I kept a fake smile plastered on my face as I slipped into my private Mercedes, waving gleefully back at them.
"Emily, look here!"
"Smile for us, Emily!"
"Miss Watson, this way!"
With a final wave, I slammed the door shut, letting out a sigh of relief as the car shot forward. "Must be real tiring being such a famous movie star, Em." Alfred, my chauffeur, chuckled as he peeked over at me through the rear view mirror.
Running a hand through my black hair, I sighed, shooting him a wry smile. "Oh, you have no idea."
Who would've thought fame would be so stressful? Ever since Happily Never After premiered in theatres all around the world and became the number one film in several different countries, I had suddenly become the apple of the media's eye.
I could no longer walk down the street fetch my daily cup of coffee. People would rush up to me and bombard me for either photos or autographs (which I never turned down) if I was out with mates in the square.
No longer could I ever just melt into the crowd...
Pulling out my Prada sunglasses from my purse, I tapped Alfred on the shoulder. "Can you please take me to the snow lodge, Alfred? I need some time alone."
"Em, you haven't been to Innocence Creek since---"
"I know that," I snapped, then sighed and shot him a smile. "Just please take me."
The elderly man nodded, pulling on to the highway, shooting out of gloomy London. "Would you like me to bring you your things, Em?" He asked with a slight frown.
Alfred hated it whenever I traveled. He had taken over the position of being my guardian, always making sure I had everything I needed--- even if I was already twenty.
As we drove up the highway, only another half hour away from the lodge, I sat back in my seat, adjusting my scarf.
Memories of the last time I was at Innocence Creek flashed before my eyes. Memories... that I wanted desperately to forget.
"We've arrived." Alfred sighed, parking the car under the lodge's overhand and coming around to open my door.
I immediately wrapped my arms around his neck. "Don't worry, Alfred. I'll be back before you know it!" I giggled, pressing my cheek against his in the embrace.
"Just don't do anything stupid, Em," He patted my back, then slipped back into the car. "I'll return with your things shortly. Be careful."
Waving goodbye as he drove out of the gates, I let out a sigh.
Here, I was safe.
I'd finally be able to relax without having the paps pop up out of the bushes or chase me down the street. Here, in good ol' Innocence Creek, I'd get to finally be myself.
As I strolled into the main lobby, greeting enthusiastic employees that I recognized from previous trips, I smiled at the familiar surroundings.
And then I came to an abrupt halt.
Before me was a wall covered in photographs of beaming children and satisfied adults. One of the photos stood out to me from all the rest.
There he was, my brilliant blue-eyed ex-boyfriend, laughing and smiling as he held a grinning brunette in his arms. As my fingertip stroked the old photo, I noticed a little girl slide up beside me.
She stared at the picture as well with an admiring glint in her dark eyes.
"They look so in love."
A scowl twisted my lips and I took a step back, shaking my head. "Don't fall in love, kid. He might not always be there to catch you."
Stepping in front of the main desk, the receptionist's eyes widened. "Oh, Miss Watson! Hello!" She gushed. I didn't recognize her from before so she must be new...
"Afternoon, love, may I have the top suite?" I grinned, leaning against the counter.
Her eyes wide, her hands shook as she typed into the computer. "Er--- I'm sorry, Miss Watson, but the largest room has already been booked." When I grimaced, she quickly added. "But you may have the one next door. We'll also throw in a bunch of complimentary things for your satisfaction, Miss Watson!" She handed me the key and I smiled over at her.
Who would be able to rent out the largest suite here? I wondered, as the elevator shot up to the top.
Unlocking my door, I slipped into my room, promptly locking the door behind me. I smiled when I saw my suitcases leant against the wall. Thank you, Alfred.
Stripping down, I wrapped a crisp white rob around my body as I strolled into the bathroom. As I opened the door, a cloud of steam blew past me, the humidity instantly frizzing my dark hair.
"What the..." My eyes widened as I noticed a completely nude lad stood in front of the mirror. I screamed at the top of my lungs, backing up into the door.
When my back slammed into a hard chest, hands suddenly seizing my wrists, I screeched again.
Covering my mouth, they dragged me out of the bathroom.
I thought I was going to die until my eyes locked with a pair of baby blue ones.
"Emi?" He asked, his voice soft. The boy beside him shot him an incredulous look.
"You know her, Lou?"
I pressed my lips together as a wicked smirk curled his lips. "Do I ever." Furrowing my brows, I followed his gaze.
Only to see that in my flailing distress, my robe had opened, revealing everything to the two men before me. Closing it rapidly, my cheeks flushed as I looked away.
"Some things just never change, huh?" Louis chuckled and I glowered at him, seizing a massive cushion from the bed.
"Get the hell out!" I shouted, flinging it at his face. The curly-haired one had vanished through the door.
Louis, on the other hand, simply stood his ground.
"But this is my---"
Another pillow shot out and smacked him right in the face. Holding up his white towel, he shot me a wink before sauntering out the door.
"And now the fun begins, Emi."
