It was a Friday night, and Cameron sat on her cozy couch watching TV. Her parents were out on their anniversary, and her sister at her friend's house. Cameron had the house all to herself, just the way she liked it.
She flipped to the news channel and was horrified by what she heard:
"An escaped convict is on the loose who murdered five people, keep all your windows and doors locked, and whatever you do, don't let anyone in your house."
Cameron shakily turned off the TV and got up to lock the front door and all the windows. Then she went back to her spot on the couch and watched some soothing TV shows to get her mind off the killer. She turned the volume up really loud and left her mind at ease.
About five minutes later, Cameron heard the door to her sister, Mary's, bedroom slam. She must have come home without Cameron hearing, since the TV had been so loud. Typical Mary, she thought, to lock herself up in her room without even saying hi.
Cameron felt calmer knowing her sister was home with her, and was ready to inform her about the killer on the loose, until she heard a pounding on the front door. The hair's on the back of her neck stood straight up. The pounding continued, getting louder and louder. Cameron ran into the kitchen to get a knife, but was surprised again when a shadowy figure pounded on the kitchen window. She screamed and hurried into the living room, hiding in the corner.
The unknown figure followed her from outside and started to pound on the living room window. Cameron was hidden from view though.
Cameron heard her sister's door open, but she couldn't get up to warn her and be in view of the killer! She prayed silently to herself that Mary wouldn't do anything stupid. She heard Mary's footsteps going down the hallway to Cameron's bedroom.
Cameron decided to make a run for it to her bedroom. The pounding had ceased, so she thought she might be safe. She sprinted to her bedroom, but Mary wasn't anywhere to be seen. Cameron didn't have time to look for her, because now the pounding was on her bedroom window, more violent and frightening than before. Cameron jumped onto her bed and curdled up into a ball.
All of a sudden the outside light turned on, and the unidentified person was revealed. Cameron was shocked, because outside her window was...
Mary.
But if Mary was outside, then who was in her house...?
Cameron immediately jumped off her bed and ran outside to Mary. Her sister had forgotten her keys, that's why she couldn't get in the house. Cameron told Mary about the killer, and how he might be in the house. The girls called the police.
They waited outside as the police searched the house. Finally, the police came out, the killer handcuffed. The killer laughed as he was taken away, and Cameron shivered. She asked one officer where they found him.
"Under your bed."
