This was this day. The council had accepted his hearing, and Elijah, proclaimed God of Trust and Sympathy, was confident in his decision. Or, should I say, hers. Elijah was the first transgender god.
"The Head Council recognizes God Elijah. To what purpose have you called this meeting?" Camantha. The leader of the Divine Heavens, Goddess of Order. Her long, silver-blue hair shimmered, falling to the floor in waves. She almost seemed to glow, no, not glow, shimmer. Elijah shivered at her stern expression and monotone voice. "Camantha, I have come to let you know that... um... I wish to be a Goddess, not God." Camantha narrowed her eyes. "What do you mean?"
Elijah gulped. "I... I'm a woman." There was a murmur amongst the council. A blonde God, Joziah, spoke. "You wish to say that you are.. transgender?" Elijah looked up. The irish God of Luck and Misfortune. "Yes, sir." Joziah leaned back in his chair, his hand rubbing his pale forehead. A small voice piped up from the end of the long table. "Well, why is this such a bad thing? We should allow hi-... her, to feel however she wishes."
That was the Goddess of, Heroines, Nicole. She was a close friend of Elijah's. She had a bright purple straight bob, and was almost fairy sized, even though she was a little pudgy. Elijah mouthed at her, 'thank you!' Camantha turned her attention from the other Gods to Elijah. "So. Goddess, what do you wish to be called?"
Elijah lit up. "Coraline. Coraline, Goddess of Trust and Sympathy." Camantha smiled. "Very well. Goddess Coraline, to prove this is the way you feel, you must spend a year on the planet we watch over. This will be the form you take;" A mirror appeared in front of Coraline, showing her an image that was her, but still not quite.
A short bob, longer in the front, that was the same pale orange as her current hair. A large jacket was draped around her, and she had blue-jean pants. "Do you accept?" A pause. "Yes. Absolutely." The Head Goddess snapped, and Coraline felt odd. Her hair started to shrink, and she had a horrible feeling in her stomach, as if she were falling. She saw clouds flying up past her, and when they cleared up, there was nothing but empty sky beneath her feet, she could see the world hundreds of feet below her.
'They hate me, they sent me here to die,' she thought. She would surely be crushed by the impact, snapping her ankles, spine, and every bone in her body. She looked back up to the magnificent sky, painted warm colors to signify sunset. She smiled, glad that the sunset would be the last thing she saw. The world was barely a hundred feet away. She could see the grass, and smell the warm smell of autumn. What a wonderful day to die.
