"IT'S YOUR FUCKING FAULT, Y/N!" He yelled at you, fists clenched in fury almost ready to throw a punch square between your eyes. "YOU KNOW WHAT, WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER FALLEN IN LOVE IN THE FIRST PLACE-" he attempted to stop those last words from escaping but he just couldn't stop them. Your boyfriend's eyes widened in shock at his own statement.
You couldn't deny that your heart broke at that - but what could you do? You could either stand up for yourself or just leave. "I know. I've thought like that." You paused, voice calm but you were internally breaking. "The latter,"
He knew when your voice became this calm in an argument, it wasn't a good sign.
He tried to shake his head and come towards you, angry but seemingly still shocked at what he'd just said. You stood in front of him, one arm gripping the other, keeping you warm in the mellow light of the room. The lamps created a scary ambience now, and you weren't one to like an aura like this one.
"I'm sorry Kihyun." Your eyes fell to your feet as his head hung and he closed his eyes.
You're not taking him back this time. Not after this argument.
Your fights stared off small, like 'who ate the avocado' or 'who is going to take the car to get washed' etc. but they've been getting progressively worse. Not violent - but intimidating.
This particular one was stupid but you believed it was your fault. He gave you a notebook of lyrics he had written and you'd spilled hot coffee on it - soaking through all the pages and destroying all his thoughts. It seemed dumb, you knew that, but that book meant a lot to him.
You felt like you had disappointed him once again.
You went on your knees and gave him the politest bow of sincerity and apologised as best as you could. "I'm so sorry. I know how special it was to you."
"Y/N-" You stopped him, standing up.
"This is the last time you have to see me be a burden to you." You said. "I'm moving out. We're breaking up, for your own good - before I do anything that breaks you even more."
You left him standing there as you got your water, car keys and coat. You left down the fire exit stairs and went to the car park floor where you'd left your car this morning.
You slouched in your own warm Hyundai with the doors locked as you closed your eyes and listened to Euphoria by BTS through the car speakers.
It's such a beautiful song but it makes you a little melancholy.
It was chilly outside now, even in the building's underground carpark so you decided to turn the heating on in the car and put the keys in the ignition. Your jacket was cosy against the bumpiness of your skin.
All you could think of is that you had ruined everything. You did it again. You broke the person you love.

You lay in the car, the seat was all the was down horizonal as you closed your eyes and listened to your rainy playlist sounding from the speakers.
It was very calming, to contrast the guilt and stress you felt when you'd realized the stupid thing you'd done. You were trying not to cry because 'crying is a sign of weakness, and showing weakness isn't good' - you remember Kihyun saying that to you.
You covered your eyes with your arm and then heard a light tapping on the window.
Your body lifted to see Ms Jeon, your 72 year old neighbor outside the car, a worried expression on her frail face.
You opened the other door and let her in to sit next to you in shotgun. It took her a while to get up but once she closed the door and sat, she pulled you in for a hug and stroked your head after she had put her shopping at her feet.
"Did you argue with Kihyun again?" She asked quietly as you shook in her arms, nodding as she did in understanding too.
She was like a mother-figure to you as yours lived back home. You always came to her to ask for her advice, as wise as she was.
"You don't need to tell me what happened, Y/N, just cry it out - okay?" She smiled at you softly as you returned a small smile of gratitude.
You gulped, ready to spill all that was on your mind. "I ruined Kihyun's lyric journal - I spilled coffee on it and completely destroyed his thoughts, opinions, letters and quotes. I destroyed what he loved most."
"That's not true," she said. "He doesn't love that thing most!"
"It is true. He said that falling in love with me was a mistake." You smiled sadly as she let go of you, only to grip your shoulders and look you dead in the eyes.
"Well he's going to get some ass-whooping from me then," she stated, matter-of-factly "Yesterday, when I talked to him as he was coming back from the grocery store, he was gushing about how much he loved you and how beautiful you were."
You shrugged, "Well seems like he's changed his mind."
"You should do something nice for him," she said. "I know how stubborn he is just hearing you two squabble in the elevator!" Chuckling, she handed you a pastel green notebook, some pens, and some washi tape.
"You have a good memory - you recited some of his lyrics to me when you came over for tea last week and I still remember them." You looked at her, wiping your tears and she continued, "Make him a new book. Show him how much you mean to him. And I promise you that he'd never choose some measly book over you."
She prepared to leave as you nodded at her gratefully, wiping at your tears. "Thank you so much Eomm-eonni,"
"It's my pleasure," she smiled, gripping her shopping. "don't cry, be the strong, independent woman that you are."
