A few years had gone by since Princess Katerina was kidnapped by the witch. The remaining princess, Kallista, was growing up finely. She was a beautiful and wonderful child. She was a lot like her father, but was like her mother in some ways. She learned quickly at everything. Still, even though she had everything she ever wanted, she always felt something was missing. The king never told his daughter about her missing twin sister. The poor princess had no idea that the missing piece of her life wasn't just her mother but her twin.

Princess Kallista couldn't help but feel sadden by the thought of something missing in her life. Still, she pushed her way through it. She was excellent at her lessons with her tutors, playing the piano, violin, and a few other instruments, drawing and painting, embroidering, and reading. Those were her favorite things to do, especially under the big oak tree in the courtyard. She would sit for hours sometimes under that tree. While under the tree, she would often think about her mother and what she was like. She would think about what her life would be like if she had lived and how happy they would be together. She also thought about why her father was so overprotective of her.

Her father never let her leave the castle, even to go to the village. She would often look out her window to the village below. Her servant girl often listened to her talk about her father every morning she brushed her rich, brown hair. "I love my father dearly, Clara, but, Father's too overprotective of me. I feel as if I am trapped in this castle like a prisoner is in the dungeon," Kallista tells her servant.

"He is only doing what is best for you," Clara would reply.

Still, Kallista longed for an answer on why and what that missing piece was.

Far away, in a neighboring kingdom, lived the missing, young Princess Katerina. Although, she had no idea she was the missing princess. The witch had giving her to a husband and wife, who had no children, for some money. The couple raised her like she was theirs from the beginning, not even knowing she was the missing princess. They loved her with all their hearts. They would get her anything she liked, even though they had little money. However, Katerina's name wasn't her real name, the couple named her Katie because they were never told her name. Katie was very much like her mother and like her father a little, too.

Katie was a beautiful and grateful child. She knew her parents would get her anything she wanted because she was their only child, but she would often never say what she wanted. She would wait until special celebrations to tell them, even then, it would be very little she ask for. She went to school in the village, where she was top of her class, and played the violin and piano. She would also cook and bake, draw and paint, embroider and sew, and read in her pass time. Those were her favorite things. Even though she was loved by the couple who were raising her, Katie was always feeling like something was missing. Everyday, while she brushed her golden, blonde hair, she dreamed of what that missing piece was.

Little did she know what it actually was.
