A Monster behind a smile

As a new day dawned, Y/n began his day by exploring the neighborhood as his usual self, checking out local convenient stores, and even visiting a local coffee shop that he had seen last night. To his amazement, the coffee shop was surprisingly good making him consider coming back to such a place. After that, he visits a local bookstore and picks up a Japanese translation book. He heads home and begins to learn how to speak Japanese as well as know kanjis. As the passage of time moves forwards, three days have finally gone and Y/n parents depart from their home to their new jobs. Leaving their son home for about two months. He continues his studies and walks around the city before stopping by the coffee shop he usually visits, little did he know that one fatal look would cause a chain of events that very day.

Y/n: It has been four days and I think I'm slowly understanding Japanese.

Venom:(But you're not even close to speaking it. It sounds terrible.)

Y/n: Hey, I least I'm trying. Luck for you this place can understand English. *opens the door to the coffee shop*

Y/n enters the shop and sits near the window as the waitress approaches him.

Waitress: <Can I take your order sir?>

Y/n opens his translator book as he tries to order his usual drink.

Y/n:< Can... Can... Can... I...have.. (coffee of your choice)... please.>

Waitress: Yeah sure coming right up.

Y/n: Oh... you speak English.

Waitress: Your Japanese is a little rough but keep up the good work. You will be surprised how many people speak English here.

Y/n: Oh...thanks... I guess.

Waitress: no problem sir.

Venom:(Awkward, good attempt but futile in the end. The good news is some of the people here can speak English.)

Y/n:( So this book was a waste of money. Or I can keep it if I meet a non-English speaker.)

Venom:( Yes, smart move.)

The waitress came back with Y/n order. He sits back and relaxes drinking his beverage as he looks out the window. In the background, a news report was being broadcast as Y/n listen to it while looking out and watching the people go by.

News report:<The remains of a man's body were found on Takada building street on the 28th. Body Fluid believed to have come from a ghoul was found at the scene.>

Y/n:( A Ghoul? Seriously? What are they High?)

Venom:(This could be interesting.)

Y/n Took another sip of his drink when he overheard a conversation between two boys near a table.

Boy 1: Woah check out the scientist chick. Damn... The Takada building isn't that far from here. I bet You'd be eaten up before you knew it, Kaneki since you're a nerdy weakling always readin' those weird books.

Kaneki: Th-they's not weird...Hide, you ought to expose yourself to more good writing.

Hide: No way. Books knock me out in five seconds.

Y/n:(Heh, idiot.)

Kaneki: But going back to earlier... I've never seen a ghoul before. Do they really exist? Those monsters that eat people?
