I never really understood most of my life, I just know I had one person I could really always depend on and that was my mom. She was beautiful inside and out but she wasn't like me. There was no one really like me, but mom said it should never stop me from being me. That's why I loved her, because she knew more than anyone else in this whole world that just because I had down syndrome didn't mean I still couldn't be normal!
My name is Emma Pearl Williamson, I'm 14 years old. The school I'm currently attending is J.Cabbage High School. Just please tell me why they named this school after someone named John Cabbage? Your guess is as good as mine, I think it's so lame! Im in the last few days of my 8th grade year. I can't wait until
S-U-M-M-E-R! Mom says we're moving again, I don't mind constantly moving but I just don't understand why we have to. I mean every move consists of me having to have a new speech therapist, occupational therapist, and an oral therapist. You'r probably wondering why, but we'll get to that a little later. Just know its a real pain in the donkey! And every move has me constantly meeting new friends and always having to explain why I'm diffrent than other teenagers, why I'm diffrent from other people period! You see you rarely find down syndrome people in small towns, it's the big cities theyre always flocking to. I've met sone of them and they say their parents moved them there because they have the best schools and doctors and programs -___-
Well I had the best schools ! Because they were normal,
I had the best doctors ! Because they actually took time out of their jobs to actually care, doctors in the city didn't care, well about the patient anyway. Only reputation.
And last but not least I had the best programs. Even if they were small town programs my mom funded herself. See my mom and I were very well off! My dad was this famous scientist who came up with diffrent inventions to help out with daily household needs. After that was a success he started inventing things for people with down syndrome to help them learn better and co-exist with non-down syndrome folk! My mom said he died in a car crash when I was 4 years old and he had already set aside a college fund for me and also a savings account that I could start using when I turned 15 ! I don't know how much it has in it, it was really the thought that counted, he also left mom his business, all his stocks and bonds. HECK! He left her everything! We were rich but lived like middle class people :) .... I guess that was another thing that made it easier for us to move around constantly... mom ended up selling dads business for 15million dollars (yup you heard me right) 15 million buckaroos :) she never really shared with me why she did it but I assumed it was because she didn't wanna be tied down with all the paperwork and phone calls and business meetings. That was what dad wanted, all she wanted was to paint and bea house-wife and raise me!
My birthday is in a couple of weeks I'll be 15, things have been weird with mom lately. It's like she's constantly looking over her shoulder. The phone always rings but she never answers ... And she's skittish all the time , jumping when the mailman rings the door bell to deliver the mail. Jumping when I ask her questions out the blue nd lately she hasn't even been working on her art . That's what's really weird because when I'm at schooling can guarantee I'll come on to a studio full of paints and acrillyics and canvas arts. But for the past two weeks I've come home to her sitting on the sofa staring out of the window ... Can I say CREEPY?
