A pacient is scheduled to have a brain operation at night. The surgeon discusses with him about his condition and how much he needs it to succeed. The pacient gets worried and wants to back out. The surgeon says: "There's a 1% chance the operation will fail."
It goes without saying that you don't have to be a matematician to understand percentages. The pacient admits to feel a little better about the operation, but still has small doubts. One percent is clearly not zero percent.
The surgeon smiles at him and says in a calm tone: "Relax. Today I had 99 operations scheduled and all were successful."
