Lets pretend like i haven't updated in like a whole year sowwy...

Courtney stayed outside. Shes didn't want to go back in if it meant seeing him again.

How could he say that. She knew he was an inconsiderate ass, but he had to have some empathy afterwards, right?

She was planning on leaving but Damien comes back out, " Theyre going to start gathering girls around...so Shayne can chose a bride" Which was Damien's request for her to come back inside.

"What's the point? I go back in there, and he chooses someone else? I think I'll pass thank you very much." Courtney choked out. She walks away from the palace steps and stands there, nothing covering her head anymore. She feels the wet drops fall onto her face, them first being tears and soon enough actual rain.

Damien saddens seeing the girl like this. He picks up an umbrella from a little basket they have of them and walks towards her. He opens it so it covers her, and her only.

"What are you doing?" she asks, with small hiccup sounding breaths in between her words, " You're getting all wet."

"Yea, it is a shame i have to get wet like this." She looks at him.

"Then go back inside. I don't need your pity"

"Im not going back inside without you. And this isn't out of pity, its out of me. I know what it's like to have been made a mockery of. I understand, and I wish someone would've done the very same thing Im doing right now. So please, come back inside with me.

She nods her head, and they slowly but surely make it back inside.

"You can clean up in there, they'll be gathering the girls in a minute or two, so please come out when you're done." he leaves her to be.

She closes the door and looks at herself. At least she wasn't wet, other than the drops that did manage to get onto her skin.

Her makeup can be cleaned up, so she grabs a thin towel and goes in to wipe off the small dark trails they left. She spent some time breathing after fixing her appearance up.

She opens the door and walks back into the ballroom, there being only Shayne on the floor. Damien sees Courtney, and leads her up to the top viewing area, where the rest of the girls are.

Murmurs heard from every one of them.

"I cant do this."

"Yes, you can.  He's about to chose and then you can leave after that. I promise."

He lets out and heavy sighs and nods. Damien leaves her side and goes to Olivias, who is spectating from the side of the ballroom.

She whispers to him, "You know Shayne really liked her."

"I can tell, but he needs to learn to shut up when he has to. I found that girl outisde crying."

"He doesnt know any better. Remember he may be 19 but he's a 5 year old at heart, he gets upset when big things like this dont go out his way."

"Yes, I know"

He doesn't continue this conversation once he sees Olivia give the cue for both of them to head out onto the floor.

With a loud voice, Olivia announces, "Thank you all for coming to tonights ball. If I can have all you young ladies come back down so that Prince Shayne may decide who is to be his bride."

And with that, all girls came down quickly.

"Prince Shayne, chose your bride"

Shayne gazes through the eyes. The eyes of girls with no personality. The eyes of girls who only think he's dreamy and nothing more.

All that but one pair of eyes. These eyes were beautiful in every way possible. The eyes that were red, and puffy on the outside. He liked those eyes.

He makes his decision and tells Damien.

Everyone looks to Damien, waiting for his response. The only thing he manages to offer is his slight uncomfortable smile, which turns into a big fake one as he announces it.

"The Prince has decided who to be his bride."

The ballroom goes silent.

————————-

Please, hurry and say it Damien. I just want to leave already, Courtney thinks to herself.

She watches as Damien is whispered Shaynes choice. She has no reaction to it at all. She watches him make a big fake smile, and then he looks at her.

He looks at her with eyes of pity. Eyes that reveal all too much without a word needing to be spoken.

That was the moment her heart shattered.

"Courtney Ruth Miller, outstanding job love. You've won the Prince's heart!"
