Violet (reader's pov)
"So, tell me about that." I asked nervously. I didn't wanna make him uncomfortable, but I did wanna know him better."Well,um,.." he chuckled. "I don't think it would be the most interesting story ever. But, what about your parents? Do you live with them? Tell me, what are they like?"
I was surprised that he seemed genuinely interested. But also wondered if he was avoiding the question. I never like to talk about myself, but I wanted to answer all of his questions.
"Yea actually. I live with my mom. My dad too but, parents are arguing a lot. But we moved here because they want to fix things. I'm not sure how well that is working out for them, since I don't see them a lot." I reply.
"Oh, I'm sorry violet. But hey, we're gonna miss the bus!" He said.
"Shit!"
We both ran frantically trying to catch up to the bus. The driver saw us and stopped to let us on.
"I'm so sorry sir, we weren't paying attention" Kurt sincerely apologized.
"You're fine kid, just hop on. You new here?" The driver said gesturing to me.
"I.. yeah, I am new here sir." I said nervously. I've never liked being confronted by authority because it always made me feel like I did something wrong. But he seemed nice enough.
"Well, I'm the bus driver, and you might wanna hurry on. Looks like we've got another storm coming. Wanna get you kids home before you're all forced to walk in the rain!"
I smiled and took my seat next to kurt.
"So.. what's your stop?" He asked looking up at me.
"Roanoke, you?" I asked.
"Nice, Redfox. But I don't ride cause I live here. I needed to go to the corner store to get some things. Hopefully I still can if it's not closed because of the storm. Fuck, I didn't expect this today" he said.
"Yeah you're right it'll probably be closed. But if it's not weird or anything," I started nervously, "just come to my house. There's food and stuff and you can just ride with me to school tomorrow. My older brothers got something you can wear too I'm sure. I mean, if it's okay with your parents and all. Mine are never home" I offered.
"I.. are you sure? I really don't wanna bother you" he said hesitantly. I didn't want to scare him but I did want the company really bad.
"No! You aren't bothering at all, and my house gets lonely. And you seem like an art person. My moms got some pretty cool collections from her elite painter friends, or whatever the fuck.. sorry I'm getting off topic, but you should come. If you want to."
"Hmm.. art, food, and your older brothers clothes? That sounds like a deal. And don't worry, my folks won't mind"
"Nice" I smiled. We stared at eachother for a second. It wasn't awkward at all, it felt so oddly comfortable. I could tell we were both happy. Happiness is one of the purest feelings. And love...
