James came to the table with a terrified look on his face, this is not good news. I decided to be the one breaking the silence."Sooo...how was it? Did she say yes?""HOW WAS IT?! HOW WAS IT?! OHHHH I'LL TELL YA ALRIGHT!" He sat in his chair and started talking, the look never leaving his face.
"She is a demon ok? I went there and gave her the piece of paper asking her if she wants to be my girlfriend, ya know with the options A. If no, do a handstand and B. If yes, wink at me." He paused.
"And what happened? Did she do a handstand?" I said trying to think about what made him say she was a demon. He liked that girl for so long.
"I wished that was it but no. She read the paper, looked at me, got a lighter from her pocket and lit the paper on fire giving me the most horrifying look I have ever seen! I mean I looked into death eyes so many times! It's my job to meet him every day, but this girl, no this... demon dressed up like a girl gave me chills! Do you want to know what she said while burning the paper?!" I'm starting to understant his look of horror.
"What did she say?" I said almost wispering. He is the most courageous guy I know, he does look in death eyes every time he goes into a mission, the fact that he is scared of her is no good news.
"She said: 'If you ever in your wasted life ask me this again I will find out where you live and burn the place to the ground.' with the most creepy look ever and then, to put out the fire she grumpled up the rest of paper in her hand." He said looking even worse. I think that by telling me this he relived that. I really wonder what was the look she gave him.
"Wow dude that's a bit fucked up. Did you do something to make her mad?" There had to be something, she was so calm and polite all the time.
"Not that I know of. I tried to be my best around her...Man why do I always fall for the weirdest girls?" He was right, I never saw somebody with such bad luck when it comes to love in my entire life. One time when he asked another girl out she laughed so hard she passed out and then woke up laughing. Now that I think about it, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to encourage him to confess.
"I'm sorry dude, but don't worry there's plenty of mermaids in the sea!" I really am sorry for him, he's not a douchebag or anything like that, quite the contrary and he looks pretty good, I guess his only flaw was the girls he fell in love with.
"Thanks man, at least I have my best friend always there for me!" And I'm glad I was.
