Sneaking out of her house was never a problem for Tinny, but not having a place to go, that was new. She lost her last three races, and Dom had warned her not to show her face at the street races again for a long time. Whether he had a plan or wanted her out, it didn't matter to her, she had to prove that she was not the bad driver or mechanic he thought she was. She knew Letty could get Dom around to atleast allow her to hang around, but she had done so much already, it wouldn't be fair to ask for any more. The whole last month she spent turning the races around in her mind. The shifts were timed perfectly and the nitro was released at the right time, but Nico still managed to beat her. The last time was literally her last considering her car went up in flames, and the nitro was the icing on the cake. But now that she knew how and why she lost, the whole of last week had gone in planning her revenge. If only she could get Dom to vouch for her to race, she could beat Nico this time, she knew it.She took the turn and was right at the entrance of the street races, all she had to do was find Dom, before he saw her."Tinny!" Too late. "Get out!" he whispered, "Before they see you and turn you into mincemeat."She tried to look as big as she could to in her five-foot-five stature, against his six-foot bulk, "I can deal with them, Dom. I just need a car.""Get out." He repeated, and this time he grabbed her hand and pulled her round the corner. It wasn't clear how he planned on chasing her out from there, whether he was going to give her light push and send her on her way, or pick her up and throw her all the way to her room. Thankfully, Letty stepped in."She's a kid, Dom" Letty caught his hand and wrapped it wound her waist, "let her be. Tinny's gonna go home now. Right, Tinny?" It wasn't clear to Tinny what the meaningful look that Letty gave her in that exact moment was supposed to be code for, but it sure wasn't "Be at the Starting Line in Dom's Car", once again against Nico, which is exactly where she was seen fifteen minutes later.Dom's car was so easy to break into, and a short skirt is a valuable distraction. Dom was never worried about someone stealing his car. It was a known fact that you did not steal the top cars. So if the racer was some distance from his car, kissing his girl with both eyes closed, not many people would question another girl getting the car out.In addition to that, the countdown girl was new, and did not know about the ban imposed on Tinny or Dom's car. She just thought the silence was due to the fact that the girl driving was extremely young, and once she saw the pink slips, she gave her countdown. The tall blonde held her scarf above her head. Looking at both drivers, who nodded, indicating they were ready, she swung the scarf down and the race began.Dom could only watch in despair as his car and the girl he trained for the last six months seemed to be in a collision course with Nico and his unbeatable ride.Tinny kept her eyes on the road. She had no intention of looking to see whether Nico was there or not. They were approaching the bottleneck. Only one car could pass through. She hesitated a second too long, and Nico, took the lead.Dom could see Nico's car be the first to take the bottleneck turn, and his despair turned to rage. Tinny was unpredictable, he knew that from the day he agreed to train her, but she had shown a lot of scope for improvement and she was loyal. She was good behind the wheel, so he put her up for the races. It was an easy one, but she lost. Tinny protested that there was a problem with the car, but whenever they checked, there was nothing. Trusting her, they put her up again, and again she lost. Dom remembered telling her to cool off for a few days, and come back after a month. But she was determined. She headed up to the races when she knew their crew wouldn't be there, and raced against Nico, for pink slips. She lost her car and got kicked off their racing crew. The only reason she was still allowed near them was because of Letty. And now this. Every racer in the town knew that touching Dominic Toretto's car without permission was signing your own death warrant. Tinny had just signed hers. And then everything changed. It wasn't Nico's car coming back thorugh the bottleneck, it was his. Tinny had somehow overtaken Nico.Still keeping her eyes on the road, she focussed all the attention to just keeping her time right. She wouldn't need the nitro, though maybe spectators might need the fire extinguishers. She heard a car roar, and come up beside her, but she still refused to look. Then she heard it, the sound her own engine made before giving up on her, and Nico's car died. She made for the Finish Line with no problem."You b*t*h" was the first words she heard getting out of the car. She tossed her keys to Dom who was still standing there open-mouthed. Letty helped him with that. "You cheated.""And what makes you think that?" Tinny was being cool."You really think I wouldn't notice?" Nico was fuming. He came right up in her face. She didn't flinch, and he didn't notice the attention he was getting. "You think that by pulling the same trick on me, you would get me out. You were wrong and I'm still here."Tinny's eyes rounded in innocent surprise, "You thought I wanted to kill you, or destroy your car? Your car is too beautiful, and I have no intention of spending my life in prison. Also you gotta learn to observe your surroundings."Nico looked confused, turned around, and was flat on the ground. Dom was already mad, and he never cooled down easy, expect through some physical activity, and Tinny handed Nico on a silver platter to Dom."You're still reckless" Dom said to Tinny."And still one of your best drivers." She fished Nico's keys out of his pocket and gave them to Dom, "for all the trouble I've caused.""Tomorrow, drop by before school", Dom said to her, "we'll see if you can still keep up with us."She smiled. Mission Accomplished!Tinny turned to Letty, "Thanks for not turning you back on me.""You're a good kid Tinny" Letty hugged the little girl, "And we don't ever turn our backs on family."Tinny took her time getting home. It must have taken her fifteen minutes to get to the Street Races, but she took 45 minutes reaching home. The whole street was asleep, and so quiet. She took a deep breath, so much cleaner than the air from the races."You embarrassed me""You shouldn't have destroyed my car." Tinny turned around to face Nico, only to face the barrel of a gun.BANG!And suddenly the street wasn't so quite anymore.
