[Kylie's Point Of View]

My phone alarm went off and I scrambled lazily to turn it off. When I silenced the noise, I got out of bed. The room was quiet, I took my phone to see if I had any notification. There was a message from my best friend and classmate, Jamila, that said she would be at my house in the next forty minutes.

My name is Kylie McLean, I'm seventeen years old with brown eyes and black hair. Not to brag but say the truth, I was one of the most popular students in Keem Brown High, known for being smart, brilliant and beautiful. I was what people called a nerd, not your typical nerd with big, dorky glasses but a real nerd without glasses.

Considering the time Jamila sent the message and the present time, I had only few minutes left. I stripped naked, took my towel and rushed to the bathroom.

Standing in front of the mirror on the wall, I looked at my reflection as I brushed my teeth. After using the pink toothbrush to brush all the angles in my mouth, I walked to the shower and turned it on. After the quick bathe, I turned off the shower and stepped out of it. Walking to my room, I used the towel to dry myself then apply my body lotion on my hand and massage it gently onto my body. I wore a pink shirt and a pair of jeans that taper at the leg, styled my black hair into a ponytail.

I took my sandal and wore it before taking my backpack and my phone. I opened my backpack and grabbed a bottle of lotion I bought yesterday, rubbed a bit into my neck and on my hands. I was lotion girl, and I liked to smell nice.

I stepped back into the bathroom and looked over my outfit. I smiled, satisfied with my outfit. Plus I looked good in this color of pink shirt. I loved pink and I always looked good in anything pink. Now I was ready to leave for school.

When I got downstairs, I saw my mom in the kitchen. I walked over to her and kiss her on the cheek. "Good morning, Mom."

"Morning, sleepyhead. How was your night?"

"Amazing," I said with a smile.

"Your breakfast is on the dining table. Eat before Jamila shows up. I know she would be here anytime soon."

I nodded and walked to the table in the dining area. I didn't know the importance of the dining table in my home because we barely use it. We mostly used it during special occasions and I on the other hand prefer eating on the kitchen counter. My dad was a busy man, a doctor. So, most of the time, my dad left home for work before I woke up. He was always busy with work. He left early in the morning and came back late at night mostly while I was asleep. My Mom owned and ran a famous restaurant here in New York called Pink Plates.

Just when I was about to sit, my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was a message from Jamila again, telling me she was outside. Instead of replying to her message, I drank the whole tea that was in my teacup all at once. I was running late and I couldn't spare the time to eat the pancakes Mom made. Also, I didn't want to keep Jamila waiting outside in her car. Her parents bought her a dope Mercedes Benz for her seventeenth birthday.

Immediately she got her driver's license, she offered me the opportunity to be driving with her to school which I instantly agreed. At least, I was safe from the school transportation. I said goodbye to Mom and hurried outside to meet Jamila.

I climbed inside the Mercedes Benz, and put on my seatbelt before Jamila started the engine and pulled away from the curb. I turned on the radio, and she looked over me and smiled wide.

After twenty five minutes of driving, we pulled up at the school parking space. There were a lot of students in the school already so the parking space was nearly filled up with cars. Jamila turned off the radio, got out of the car and I did the same. Then, she locked the door behind her. Thankfully, the traffic wasn't bad today so we got to school seven minutes earlier.

Walking through the crowdy hallway, I heard a group of boys talking about the party they went to yesterday. We walked past another group of students and I could hear them talking about a new student. There had been a lot of new students in the school but the fact that this group of girls were talking about a particular new student made me wonder what could be so special about the new student.

Jamila and I walked to our lockers, where Lydia and Julia were waiting for us. The locker room was our waiting station, it was where we all gathered before we headed to class. Even though I talked to almost everyone in school, Jamila, Lydia, Julia and Ola were my only good friends in the school, most of the other girls were gossips and I hated gossips.

"Hey guys!" Jamila and I said in unison as we reached the girls.

"Hey, have you seen the new student?" Julia asked pulling my arm.

"No," I replied.

"Why did you ask?" Jamila asked curiously.

"The new student is Derek Robert," Julia said.

"Derek Robert of the Roberts family," Lydia added. "The billionaire's son."

"I actually heard some girls talking about a new student when I was walking in the hallway, but I haven't seen him though," I said.

"Oh my gosh!" Jamila exclaimed. "Do you have any idea how famous Derek is? He has a huge following on Instagram, he's among the top thirty most followed celebrities on the platform. Girl that boy is dripping in money." She said excitedly.

"I hope he takes the same classes as us. It gonna feel awesome to be in the same classroom with him." Lydia whispered.

Truly, Derek was a rich and popular guy. His family had a reality show and they just wouldn't stop showing them on TV. His family kept being on Forbes list and was currently one of the richest families in United States of America. I think the girls were just being dramatic and overly excited about him. I wasn't much interested in seeing him, most of these rich kids were just jerks and douchebags thinking they could control anyone.

"I can't wait to see him in person and let him know that I'm a huge fan," Jamila whispered.

"Where is Ola?" I asked when I noticed his absence in our circle.

"Oh, he called me this morning and said he won't be able to come to school today because he wants to go shopping with his girlfriend," Julia answered.

"Going shopping with his girlfriend?" Lydia asked not hesitating to show her annoyance. We all knew she was in love with Ola and how she disliked to hear about Ola's girlfriend.

Seconds later, the bell rang for our first period and we headed to our classroom.
