Charlie's POV

"Can I just have a coffee black please?" I ask looking through my wimpy wallet to pull out my last ten dollar bill.

The lady nods and punches my order into the computer.

"3 dollars please." She smiles and takes my money giving me seven dollars back.

I take my change and coffee and head outside and down the block to my car. I am currently in the heart of London in the middle of winter with only a hoodie. I should have thought this escape through better.

As I walk to my car I enjoy the quiet on the street and the fresh air. I have received many calls from chance in which I have not returned and do not plan to. I will leave that part of my past behind as best I can but I don't think I will ever be the same.

My car smells like McDonalds and coffee which consists of the meals for the past three weeks. I need to get a job but first I need a place to stay.

I know my parents put some money away for me just before they died, I'm sure it's enough to get me started. I drive for a few minutes listening to the radio and sipping my coffee before I arrive at the bank. I have $300 in my personal savings and $20,000 in the trust from my parents.

I take the $300 and find a hotel I can stay at for a few nights. Holiday Inn Express is where I end up. $15 a night, heck I should just live here.  The room is not glamorous but it will do for now. I sit my purse in the chair and plug my phone in the wall before hopping into the shower.

I shower quick as I want to go to bed. Tomorrow I will start my job hunt, the first step in my new life.
