The main character's parent(s) are archeologists and went to a rainforest area in South America. When the protagonist (pt) goes off exploring, pt sees something and goes off to chase it. Pt finds a Coatyl, aka Mexican Dragon, a feathered serpent. Pt only sees rainbow wings and a head. Pt runs back to their parent(s) claiming she found a dragon, but no one believes her, of course. Pt goes off to find the Coatyl everyday, befriending it. When the archeologists (arch) find pt and the Coatyl, they try to get pt away from "it" saying that its a dangerous creature, pt denies it, saying that the Coatyl is friendly. When the arch raises their weapon, the feathered serpent defends pt
