Prologue #2

"I am Dr. Parkinson and today I will change the world and amaze the human race!"
Sweat poured down Luke's face. The only reason he agreed to do this was for the money, he doesn't even know what Dr. Parkinson was going to do to him.
"Here we have our first test subject!" Dr. Parkinson strode towards Luke, who was freaking out and was about to wet his pants.
Luke, strapped to a big metal board, just told himself it was worth risking his life for the money. He needed it to start a new life with his wife, Maura.
"Luke..." Dr. Parkinson leaned in closer, "what's your last name?"
"G-Grillie, Luke Grillie." he stuttered.
"Luke Grillie!" He moved away from Luke and leaned over to grab the huge needle Luke's been dreading about. "Are you ready for this Luke?"
"Actually, now I'm having second thoughts-" A wave of pain shot through Luke as Dr. Parkinson inserted the needle into his arm.
Dr. Parkinson watched as his life's work came into action. Luke's eyes became bloodshot and he ripped his way out of his straps. A normal human couldn't have done that.
The building was abandoned, apart from the camera man, Dr. Parkinson and Luke, who was Luke no more.
"What have you done?" Luke shouted, his hands over his face, cowering in the midst of a corner.
"Hey! Get the camera on me okay? Do your job properly. Don't worry, he is harmless." The camera person inched his way forward, only stepping closer if Dr. Parkinson does.
Dr. Parkinson, unaware of what he has done, casually walked towards Luke.
"I, Dr. Parkinson, the greatest scientist alive, has finally done it! I have inserted you with a serum I have been working on for years!"
Luke growled, his stomach grumbling.
"What did your serum do to me?" Luke shouted, ignoring the agonising pain building up on his arm.
"Well, for starters, you should thank me. There are some ingredients in that serum that are really special, that have a power to make your muscles bigger and make you even stronger and faster. Some ingredients that can make you smarter and more clever."
"I don't need that! I have everything I want! You should've told me!"
"Or else what? I think you need me more than I need you. You need my money." Dr. Parkinson turned towards the camera, his sweet expression gone and his face expressionless. He gazed into the camera.
"Turn off the camera, get another person to test with, this one does not cooperate well. Throw him out."
"What? No! You said! Give me my money! I did the job! I-" The camera guy was tiny but unexplainably strong. He picked Luke up like a thin piece of wood and threw him outside.
He stood up and trudged through the layers of trash stacked on the side of the stone street. A storm of thoughts and worries clouded his mind.

Luke strolled into his own house, worried that he might wake up his loved one. The door creaked open revealing his beautiful wife asleep on a rocking chair. Luke smiled, she was snoring softly and her chair rocked slowly. He turned around to close the door and quietly placed his coat and hat on a rack.
"Where have you been?" Luke had gotten caught, red-handed.
"Uhh, nowhere."
"Don't you dare lie to me Luke Grillie. Where have you been?"
"I was just working another job, it was just a quick one."
"A quick one? I have been waiting here, for you, since I have gotten home! And you, only arrive now!"
"Maura, I was trying to earn extra money. For us, so that we can run away from this wretched place."
"Luke..." Maura stepped to get closer but instead collapsed on to the ground.
"Maura! What happened! Maura, stay with me, stay with me! I need to call the doctor. Wait here." Maura grabbed Luke before he could move. She could feel his strong heartbeat and his unusually strong muscles moving.
"Luke, no, I'm fine, it's just that, there's something I've been meaning to tell you."
"What? Are you dying? Do you have Aids?" Luke gasped, "Do you have Ebola?"
"No! Luke, listen." Maura took a deep breath and stared directly into Luke's eyes, "We are going to have our first baby. And we are going to call her, Annie."
